Oil pressure/temp sender oil distribution block for s65

I have an e92 m3 built as a competition time trial car and in progress of building another e92 m3 w2w car. I'm adding a combination oil pressure/temp sensor and would prefer to retain the dummy stock oil pressure switch. I'm struggling to find an oil distribution block that will fit the s65. Bimmerworld claims theirs will fit an s65 but I cannot figure out any way to install that block with room to connect the stock wiring hardness to the dummy switch without the water pump housing getting in the way. Reaching out to BW, they do not have direct experience installing it on an s65. Has anyone been able to fit the BW oil distribution switch successfully on an s65 while maintaining the dummy switch? Or has anyone found a different oil distribution block that will work? I also tried the rally road compact distribution block, but it is actually bigger than the BW one. The aktive autowerke one looks like it would certainly work but its sold out and excessively expensive. Also curious where folks decided to remote mount the sensor on an e90/e92?
Thanks!

Not sure how much of an issue it actually is but some will tell you to mount the senders and switches on the chassis. Run a stainless braided line from the engine to the senders.

If oil pressure is a concern, I would recommend installing a pressure switch attached to a piezo siren. May need to put a defeat switch so it is not going off when the oil is warm at idle. You will very likely not catch the oil light before it is too late. The siren is unmistakable.

I have both the dummy switch and block on mine. You need to shave the harness plug down for the dummy switch to make it work.

thanks for the replies. sorry about my late reply, was out of the country for a couple days.

I already have the remote line and a plan to remote mount on the shock tower, mostly due to lack of space more than concern over vibration. In fact I reached out to both AEM (have a x-series 30-0301 oil pressure sender w/ gauge for w2w car) and lowdollar motorsports (have their combo oil pressure/temp sender for TT car) and both said on an s65 mounting at the OFH is fine. oil pressure is always a concern on a competition race car , but i do like the siren idea quite a bit.

former 240 s14 Is that the BW distribution block? hard to tell from the photos. and do you have any photos of how you shaved the connector? One of the issues I ran into is literally the angle of the dummy switch connector based on where it tightens and the direction the connector faces. for instance it looks like your connector ended up perpendicular to the water pump housing whereas mine ends up parallel to it, making the connector fit even tighter.

I just tried this adapter from rally road, which solves the dummy switch fitment easily, but creates the same angle problem for the 1/8npt port. without a banjo bolt, you are at the mercy of where the adapter block tightens for the angle of the 1/8npt port and for me it keeps lining up right against the OFH so no room to connect the remote line. https://rallyroad.net/products/oilfe...1b19d973&_ss=r

My thought is to try to find thicker crush washers to try and get the angle of the 1/8npt port to land where I can connect the hose.

Hello.

1. I can confirm my piece is the BW unit.
2. I do not have any more pics zoomed in for you
3. The OEM dummy switch goes vertical on the block, the aftermarket pressure sensor should go horizontal.
4. The shaving of the sensor was on one of the shorter sides removing it. The plug still has enough to clip in.

Hope this helps!

thanks so much for that, Rubin! my issue there is that my dummy switch ends up 90degrees turned from yours when torqued down, so the long side is what is interfering with the water pump housing, not the short side like yours. When I get back to the car i'll see what I can do with shaving the connector. Or I may try a thicker crush washer to see if that helps it torque down in the same orientation as yours. Appreciate you helping me and the community as I could not find anywhere (nor did bimmerworld know) of anyone who successfully used their block on an s65. BW just had heard stories of people making it work which is why they list an s65 as compatible lol.

Good luck and keep us posted. I was going to suggest a thicker or thinner crush washer to help with orientation so that is a good idea.

It will work, you just gotta take your time to plan it through. Also, don't make the same mistake I did. There are two horizonatl provisions on the BW block. Make sure you torque down the unused provision as it is loose from BW. I learned the hard way, lol!
