I've thought about doing purple or green, but I always worry that I will like it at the start, but regret it shortly after. Then again, it's not like I keep cars that long, so maybe one of these days I will pull the trigger lol. I plan to keep the M3 I have on order till the next-gen ICE M3 is released and will likely swap it out then. My current 911 GTS is Guards Red, but I have a 911 4 GTS on order in Lugano Blue ![]()

Mine
Hello everyone,
My list is my signature; unfortunately I can only track down pics of the current BMW (picture take at the dealer at delivery) and its predecessor. The one I still miss is the 135 convertible - murdered, it was fast and a blast (except in winter where it was the worst...).

For nostalgia's sake, here's that car. These are ultra-crummy 1mp images (640x480) shot with a VERY early digital camera that recorded to 1.44mb 3.5" floppy disks! ![]() ![]() ![]()

1991 BMW 525i - white - automatic - my first BMW! Was so impressed with the build and ride quality started me on a journey to my next 6 BMWs.
1985 BMW 525i - dark blue - manual 1998 BMW 525i - white - automatic 1996 BMW 530i - dark blue - manual 1987 BMW 528i - white - manual - transmission went out within 2 weeks 2002 BMW 528i station wagon - Burgundy - automatic 2003 BMW 540i - silver - automatic I've only owned very old BMWs. I did all my own work on them. Learned a lot about BMW mechanics. But swore to my wife that I wouldn't own another BMW years ago because of all the things that I had to constantly repair on them. So naturally when I decided to order a new X5 to replace my totally reliable 24 year old Lexus RX300, my wife's first response was "I thought you swore off BMWs". Thankfully, she has since kindly given me her blessing to acquire another BMW. And when she did that, I just went hog wild and ordered a fully specced X5 m60i Brooklyn Grey over Tartufo to be built last week of June 2026. Wish me luck... hopefully won't forever be under the hood of this BMW doing repairs.Last edited by Abbybear; 05-25-2026 at 09:53 PM.. |

First BMW was a 1984 325e - bought it when I got my first job out of college in 1987. It was used, 50k miles on it - I put another 100k on it and it was just about a perfect car. I really loved that car, more than any other I have had. Got married a few years later, wife could not drive a manual - I tried to teach her, but just could not watch it in my beloved BMW. BMW was sold and we moved into married life with kids and a long line of a mini van, some Volvo's (wife still drives on and loves it
) and several Lexus's, all very reliable but boring cars. Fast forward to last year and I bought another BMW - X3 - and love it, brought back those old 325 memories. I am so happy with my X3, we just helped our daughter buy a 2025 X1 - she was a Volvo fan also, but I encouraged her to look at other cars and she hands down chose the X1 - loves it.1984 325e (E30) 2024 X3 (G01) 2025 X1 (U11) The 325 picture is not of my car, mine was the same except dark blue color. Bought my first and only BMW in 2022. It's 2005 e90 325xi n52, dark grey, beige leather.
It wat at 290k km. Immediately at 300k got to rattling at higher loads, check engine light on, turns out 3 out of 6 cylinders were busted. Got into salvaging operation, thinking of selling at least for parts to cover my losses to some point. Still, something drove me to continue to fix it, and after almost two years of getting the right engine block replacement, legal twists with the customs, and mechanic traditionally not having this job as a priority, after all that, and my own o2 sensors replacement as a final touch... This Bimmer is still alive and kicking, purring like a kitten at 600rpm and roaring like a lion at anything above 2000rpm. Many told me I'm a fool for continuing to fix it, and they probably are right. I got hooked, what can I say. |
