Did I drive my RMS too far?
Well I decided to do the RMS in the car while I was doing a new clutch and flywheel, ect.. It was not leaking but with 141k and no evidence it had been done I figure I might as well.. Flipped the old seal around to use to hammer the new one in (yes I know I should have just bought the $150 tool
)- but whats done is done lol. Just curious if yall think I should dig this out and order a new one? An obviously the tool.. I would put it at maybe 3/32-1/8" deeper than the chamfer on the block. But I mean from what I see personally- I dont see how it could not seal, the back half of that crankshaft is every bit of an inch thick, so there is no way I pushed the inner seal itself anywhere close to being past the end of the crankshaft. I have no problem doing it again, jut the annoyance of having to wait for parts and tools to come, and lose another weekend of work time. I was hoping to get this thing back on the ground and take it for an easy drive around the block before I yanked the valve covers off to re time the motor (getting codes for bank 1 vanos maxxed on intake and exhaust) ISTA says swap solenoids if that dont work its the cam adjustment. Appreciate yalls input. Like I said, I am tempted to roll with it- I dont think its going to cause any issues, but someone on here may have thought the same thing about theirs and have a horror story. |
