I always bring my Continental Sport 02s for wet weather. I'm surprised Tire Rack says they wear fast, I thought their whole claim to fame was that they wore like an enduro tire with the pace of a super 200...

The Vitours are by no means a low cost tire. There's an FB group and according to some guy doing a bunch of tests and claims it is as fast as an R7. Or could be a headline. Not sure I believe it...may be some biases in that claim.

On an E46...but I was 1 second faster on an R7 vs a Supercar 3R and had some more time on the R7 lap. The Supercar 3R was 2 seconds faster than an old but new Falken 660.

back to 295s... those of you that run it on 18s, do you go 35 or 30? i think 35 is closer to OE circumference, but that's a lot of sidewall...

I assume 285/35 is the preferred sizing on a 10.5 18? I have a set of apex vs5rs 10.5 wide and trying to figure out what size tire I want to run...primarily a street car (but not a daily) but still want to do a lot of track work.

Generally yes, keep in mind though that each tire even though may show the same tire sizes will run large or small.

Also, if you are running coilovers you may need to take out the helper springs depending on your alignment.

285/35 is pretty tall. Would that fit up front?

I've made 285/35/18 square work, not for the faint of heart.

295/30/18 is my usual, wanted to see how comfortable the 35 sidewall was on 285.

I also do 285/30/18 as well.

I am looking to replace my Cup 2s on my ZCP wheels. I live in NYC and can’t store an entire spare track wheel setup unfortunately. My usage is mostly for track days but also for some road trips in decent weather. Is 255/35/19 and 285/30/19 still the recommended “maximum” on stock ZCP wheels and suspension? They don’t even seem to make Cup 2s in those sizes now.

I have RE71RZ's on my 18's now. science may have gone to far with this tire. it's great.

I'd get the Bridgestones before any sort of Cup tire, particularly on the street they're really good in the damp. Ride quality will probably be a little spicier than the Cup2's

In my experience with both the ECS and ECS02, the tradeoff you get for a tire that isn't absurdly expensive, can stand up to track punishment without chunking, while still being excellent in the wet, with near-perfect NVH characteristics for the street, is a pretty short life. They do not have the pace of a Super 200, and do not wear like an enduro tire (except for the fact that they start at circa 10/32"), but they're better on the street than both and better in the cold and wet as well, particularly compared to the endurance tires which are horror shows in the cold/wet. The contis are really fun tires on track, but there's compromise. tanstaafl

Just for fun, a visual comparison of 275 v730s, vs 285 re71rs, vs 295 htap. The v730s aren’t surprising but look at how wide the Bridgestones run
