I just ordered the revshift 80A trans mount to install with my new clutch and some other drivetrain refresh/upgrade components. Would these motor mounts suffice? I'll be installing an RTD or CAE shifter in the next few months as well, so looking to make upgrades now where applicable to avoid additional work down the road. Car is driven 5k street miles per year, with 10-12 track days per year also.
Those mounts are BW's equivalent Group N mount. I run a CAE with these BW mounts and 034 trans mounts (slightly stiffer than stock). Tbh the engine mounts do the majority of the work - i'd prioritize those over trans mounts. Stiffer trans mounts also help, but they do introduce a decent amount of NVH and not the nice kind.

I had RTD before and I'll just say the CAE is more than worth the extra $$$ if you're okay modifying your trim.

I have green revshift on the engine and black on the transmission. Nvh is minimal and setup feels great.

Tunnel mounted shifter bolted metal to metal adds a lot of transmission noise. Get a boot or small rubber piece squeezed in between and almost all the sound is gone

Thanks to those who have responded. Just ordered the BW motor mounts to go with the 80A revshift trans mounts.

Still undecided on cutting my console for the CAE. My shifter is bone stock right now, so I feel like anything would be better than what I have today. Ha! My goal thus far has been to leave as much of the interior as in tact as I can, as for now I still want audio, door panels, etc (rear seat will be removed with a few other items), and cutting my console feels like I'm starting to go down the path of no return.

Stiffer shift carrier bushings all around will greatly improve the shift feel/communication. Aftermarket SSKs like AutoSolutions provide stiffer bushings as part of the entire package.

Really it just comes down to whether you want a self-centering chassis mounted shifter or a detent centered trans mount shifter. Trans mount will always have more movement because it moves with the transmission but you have less risk of a mis-shift and can still get really solid bolt-action feel.

I have PowerFlex engine mounts installed on my two e92 M3s which have performed flawlessly for the past 6-8 years. You can feel a difference with a minor increase in vibration at idle, especially during a cold start, that only an owner would notice but there’s no other NVH to discuss. Supposedly, the PF engine mounts raise the engine by 0.10” but I’ve had no clearance issues with the hood and Karbonius plenum. I’d absolutely give them the recommendation for people looking to replace their engine mounts.

Just got my car back from having BW motor and RevShift 80A trans mounts installed. I also installed a new clutch, guibo, and CSB for peace of mind since the car was already getting pulled apart. The NVH is more than I anticipated at idle, and especially at cold start, but it does become greatly reduced once the cold start is complete. One thing I also noticed is there is measurably more engine noise in the cabin after the install from 3,500rpm and above, which I actually kind of enjoy.

I took the car for a quick canyon run yesterday morning and the car feels much tighter than before, and the shifting under load is more consistent than with the worn OEM mounts. This setup is not one I would recommend for a daily, but for a weekend canyon/track car, I'm mad at myself for not doing this sooner.

Thanks to everyone who helped on this forum!

When your car is warm, try holding your RPM about 100 RPM higher than usual to see where the vibration subsides, and request that specific RPM setting from your tuner.

Will try this later today and report back. Thanks for the idea!

Did you go with a chassis mount shifter like CAE? If not I would recommend dropping the trans mounts back to stock. Engine mounts make a more substantial difference to drivetrain movement anyway. Trans mounts add a lot of NVH which IMO isn’t worth it unless they are necessary like with a chassis mount shifter.

I had BW motor mounts and OEM transmission mounts for 20k-ish miles, I think. When I had my E90 at Frankfurt, the shop mechanic didn't recommend the BW mounts over OEM because the vibrations in the cabin during idle confused him if there were actual issues.
I do miss BW mounts and the rumble but there is the comfort of the cabin not vibrating anymore.
In the future, if there is an OEM replacement that doesn't have the downside of OEM mounts sagging. I'll go with that and OEM transmission mounts.

The original plan was to go with a chassis mounted shifter, but now that I have the car back I can't decide. TBD on whether I keep the trans mount or not, but I will let everyone know what I decide to do.

Hey guys, crazy idea but on the older E36s/E46s, the passenger side mount would collapse first due to the twisting force of the torque being directed to the passenger side, and the I6 would be tilted toward the passenger side a significant amount.

What if you bought an OEM mount for the driver side, but then bought a Bimmerworld/034 solid rubber mount for the passenger side? I understand the S65 isn't tilted toward one side, but that would help counteract the torque a little bit and help the mount not collapse as fast? Instead of increasing the NVH 20% (arbitrary number), you would increase it 10%?

Just an idea!

Has anyone tried these 75a ECS motor mounts? Seems like they might be a good option to balance performance and comfort.
