How early can dealers perform the free oil changes?
How early can dealers perform the free oil changes?
For example, if the car’s iDrive screen says nex oil change is due on 1/20/2026, how many days or weeks before that can I take it in? |

Not sure if it still applies for the new cars, but with my 2013 E82, my dealer would only do the free maintenance items when the CBS throws up the alert on your iDrive screen telling you it's time to get it done.

I just tell them to do it when I want and if it’s not due, I’ll pay for it and then use the free one during actual scheduled service.

I don't know how it is now but when I got my 2013 M3 the oil was changed as the first 1200 miles and then annually no matter the mileage for the first 4 years.

One month but you should know that spark plugs and air filters are also based on the same interval so there's an incentive to stay on schedule

I bought the three year oil change plan. I already had my one done this year, however when my service light came on and showed I was in need for an oil change in 1,200mi, it was covered at no charge. I was surpriswed and my service advisor said that's how it is, but they don't tell you.
