PFC New Brake Pad Compounds

PFC has released some new brake pad compounds:

97 - endurance with slight rise in friction with increasing temperature
82 - endurance/sprint with digressive friction curve ABS
81 - rear engine gt3/gt4 or front engine nascar/TCR
84 - rear endurance mid-engine gt3/gt4 with digressive friction curve
40 - gt3/gt4 sprint or short track front & rear, TCR front
41 - high torque and high bite nascar, TA, short track & TCR front
68 - street and track day with high friction cold & hot bite with high temperature tolerance, low noise & low noncorrosive dust

Compounds 97, 01, 08, 11, 13, 15 and 39 are listed as still being available.

They’ve also released floating V3 rotors for:

F87 2NH or F8x 2NK 400 mm front rotor
F87 2NH or F8x 2NK 380 mm rear rotor
F87 & F8x Blue Caliper 380 mm front rotor

They also state there are full f8x brake kits available with six-piston fixed calipers front and four-piston fixed calipers rear combined with floating V3 rotors. No other details are provided. It would be awesome if the PFC f8x calipers are identical to the Porsche ZR95 and ZR96 monoblock calipers (see pic below)! Note: the PFC ZR95 caliper on the front of a 992 GT3 RS uses only a 34 mm-thick rotor, not a 36 mm-thick rotor, so some will say it’s not a “good race” caliper.

This is very good news on a few fronts:

> PFC *isn't* distancing themselves from track-centric products as as been stated for some time by well-informed sources (including major retailers).
> A continually evolving product line
> Availability of V3 rotors - which was getting squeezed on availability
> Continuing to offer compounds that many of us have used successfully for years and would prefer to keep using

They did stop supporting track brake kits and replacement rotors for the past 6-8 years. So far they are making only two Porsche brake kits and one BMW f8x brake. It looks like maybe two calipers and three, max of four, rotor rings. I wish they still supported their old brake kits but, to ensure I could continue to run my two complete e92 M3 brake setups, I stocked up on enough rotor rings and replaced hats to cover me for ~30k track miles/kit!
