that's so true...
when I was fresh out of college, I had a hard time getting a job that was related to my degree. after 3 months of looking and running out of money for rent, I kind of gave up and started working at a fancy local strip club as as a bartender. You would think that a young 20-something kid was probably thrilled and excited. Nude women and booze. Well, I was, but only for about the first a couple of weeks. After half a year, I finally found a "real" job somewhere else. After all these years, I still feel somewhat repulsive when I see silicone-enhanced women. ![]() |

Of course, this was probably more on the Quarter Pounder and Filet O' Fish level of things, but still. You can only take so much of Methany and her drama. |

My 2018 M3 is my first BMW. It's been very reliable and I have 65k miles on it. My 2017 NSX was a POS and I had to Lemon Law it in the first year.

oh, wait, never mind... you said 2017. I only love the first-gen 1990 NSX. I still remember the day I saw it arriving at my Acura dealer back in 1990. I was probably drooling with my mouth open. You couldn't drag me away even if have a team of nude women. I was just a poor kid with an Integra at the time.Last edited by Sand; 10-03-2025 at 03:12 PM.. |

I just spent the day yesterday out with my wife in her 28-year-old 1997 Z3 on a 300-mile drive ripping around the Piedmont and Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. We've had it since new, and it just crossed 200,000 miles a few weeks back. The Z3 ran flawlessly. What a great car.
Yep, I've done maintenance and repairs on it. It's not BMW's best effort regarding the interior quality for the plastics and audio system (we don't use it when the top is down anyway), but the M44/Getrag drivetrain is as stout as a locomotive. I've had to reseal the cam chain cover once, it's needed two cam sensors over the years, and two replacements of the fuel hoses. I redid the suspension around 140,000 miles. Replaced the brake hoses last year just due to being 27 years old. We took it out west to the Rockies in 2017 for its 20th anniversary, a 4,500-mile road trip. My other 4 BMWs have been the same or better. Three of the five have gone well past 200,000 miles. Two passed 100,000 with ease. 426,000 on the E90. The Z4 has yet to hit 200,000, I just need time... All in all, I've driven the five Bimmers in total over 1.1 million miles. Of course, some wrenching required. These mokes are idiots. LOL.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
