very interested in this and learning off comments how install would work. Have had massive issues in this and so far I've bought a Turner Reservoir, CSF Power Steering Radiator and have had to replace the P/S Pump with it going out. Found solution in removing fluid from reservoir prior to tracking the car but this seems very interesting

You could go back to the stock PS cooler and reservoir with just the shims.

I will put up an install guide. My garage is a disaster right now and have a couple of things going on. Hopefully this week.

I was searching for a collet, and didn't really feel like paying a few hundred bucks for a machinists tool that has a single use for me. I found a barrel clamp on Amazon. It did the trick.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CBTQ6T75...fed_asin_title

....just a tool update.... The barrel clamp worked great one time, lol. I attempted to use it a second time for a spare PS pump, and it marred the valve finish pretty bad. The soft vise covers are the way to go. Don't buy this barrel clamp.

I have some vise pads from doing E46 VANOS jobs - worked great.

It's all installed and I'm already waiting for next track day to see how everything goes. I wish I had seen this thread a couple of weeks ago

On my E46, you will feel it affer about 20 minutes.

4 shims is a 50% reduction so it will be heavier. If you’re big and burly then I think you’d be okay. If you’ve ever been told you have Olive Oyle arms then stick with 2.

Thanks again to BIGjae for the “ez” solution. I haven’t checked my mailbox in a few weeks because I’m lazy, so I’m sure it’s in there.

Its probably in a white envelope. Might look like junk mail.

Someone really wanted to know what was inside that envelope. I’m amazed it was still inside. Thanks man!

I might have forgotten to put the shims in an envelope. So if someone gets an empty envelope, it's not a cruel joke. If you do, just shoot me a PM or yell at me publicly on this thread.

Nice job!
Just wondering if my AA underdrive pulley would help with this or the shims would still be useful?

Underdrive pulleys will help a little but the shims are far more effective. The limitation is how much the pump can be underdriven before losing PS at low RPMs which is when you need more power assist. Also risk damaging the pump. The pump is pumping air when you lose PS assist which will cause pump damage.

The shims give more assist when you need it, less when you don’t. Only costs $20.

I have the pulley already so was wondering if it would be ok to run the shims too.
