OMP steering wheel install, now getting steering angle/ DSC code.
So I installed an OMP 330mm wheel, and now i'm getting all sorts of new codes. From what i gather it has to do with the steering angle needing calibration. I did the lock- to- lock procedure, and the codes went away, then came back again after a short drive.
Has anybody experienced this after replacing the steering wheel? Could i have damaged the clock spring when connecting everything back up? -Steve |

What codes are you getting? And the standard question of are you sure both of the plugs on the back of the clock spring are fully seated?

Here’s the codes. When you say “plugs” do you mean the plugs from the original wheel (airbag/ wheel buttons, etc) or is there another set of plugs?

And those, but also the ones on the back of the clock spring.

……I may have found my own issue from a post back in 2011:
“We used an OMP wheel on our "Green Hell" project car, and will be working on a solution to transfer the M button over the winter. We still have to do a bit of testing to determine just how simple of a project it should be. I can tell you, however, that we have to modify an off the shelf MOMO steering wheel hub pretty extensively to allow the wheel to interface properly with the factory "clock spring" or steering position sensor. Some machining and welding work was required to allow the steering wheel hub to rotate the clock spring in the same way a factory wheel does.” ……It appears that in order for the OMP hub to key into the clock spring, the clock spring needs to be rotated approx 30-35 degrees. This would make sense that it takes a few miles for the computer to figure out something isn’t in alignment. What a PIA! I’m curious if anyone else has experienced this? I wonder if the momo/Omp hubs are just trash? |
