Yeah pretty much nailed it above but it's not a "need" per se. One of my biggest goals was to get park functionality to ditch the e brake. The secondary was to clean up the tunnel area on my non-console car and get the DSC/Power/Drivelogic buttons where I can see them with a helmet on.

The 15 button version has the advantage of being able to set the full suite of MDrive settings, without having iDrive.

It also buffers and separates CAN and power from the car's busses and provides a convenient connection point for other data systems. So if your wiring or data logger takes a shit your car will not be bricked.

I'm now just expanding the ecosystem a bit for a couple things that integrate easily. The PDM is first. I'm pulling together an extremely high accuracy, digitally filtered IMU (Accelerometer, Gyro, and Magnetometer) simply to have better data to log (acceleration, ritch, roll, yaw, heading, etc.) After that is a steering wheel solution, and a plug-and-play dash replacement.

I know I'm probably explaining all of this terribly, I am but an Engineer.

I love the idea of getting rid of the shifter in my car. Its just gone off to get its cage, but already has a nicely slimmed down harness and missing AC, so this would fit right into the build.

Is the plan to still make this available?

Slow. I have a couple bill-paying projects ahead of those now, but hopefully some day.

Right now what I have: GWS replacement, CAN gateway for E9x (that allows full M-Drive settings w/o iDrive,) Relay/Input "PDM," and a very high end IMU for accel/gyro/magnometer/barometric pressure.

I haven't done firmware for the IMU yet but shouldn't be rocket surgery. The relay PDM is pretty badass for simple things.
