Thanks! Do you know how many posts I need to get PMs opened? Pic of car here. This is somewhere in rural Illinois right after I picked it up. It's a 2011.75 Jet Black / Black Slicktop DCT with ~124k miles. Did my rod bearings at a shop in Chicago and drove it home afterwards. Great way to get to know a new (used) car.

I had always wanted an E90 M3 (dad had a ZHP sedan growing up) and this seemed like a solid option with the color combo and options I wanted. Car was dealer maintained it's whole life but needed some work given it's mileage. It's a weekend project car for me so it fit the bill well. I've been getting through a bunch of work the last few months. I've done the oil filter housing, fuel injectors, new engine mounts (didn't like the ones the rod bearing shop put on), pulleys, belts, WP, thermostat, plenum couplers, and spark plugs.

Still got a handful of things left, mainly valve covers and chasing down a cooling issue, car seems to settle around 225 - 230 oil temp vs 210 I've seen on other S65s. The new oil thermostat in the OFH helped but still seeing higher than desired temps in normal driving.

Hmm, it is normal for them to go a bit above 210 when it's warm or driven hard. DCT cars do run hotter than manuals.

Since you've done the WP and T-stat any issue there should have been taken care of.

The only thing that got my car to run cooler was the Do88 DCT Cooler, Oil Cooler and Oil Diverter valve. But it still goes above 210, just needs to be driven for longer and harder to get there.

Good point on the DCTs; the others I've seen were all 6MTs.

Ha, I actually have the BW oil diverter valve sitting in my garage. I ordered it and decided against it since I ended up getting a whole new OFH and figured the new oil cooler thermostat within would fix my issues. May need to take it apart again and pop the diverter in.

Good to hear on the Do88 coolers, I had started looking into those. Seems like the consensus is they are better than CSF. Do you have the Do88 radiator too? I was considering doing that as a next step since my current rad is the original. No cracks or signs of leaking but I'm sure its better days are behind it after 100k+ miles.
