Oxygen Sensor not ready?

So I bought my E92 around 2 years ago with a fresh smog test.
Now, 2 years later, I have to smog it on my own.

As my battery was very weak, I decided to replace it 2 weeks ago.
I have drove it for around 130 miles since but the oxygen sensor is not ready yet.

Couple questions:

Any chance the car is tuned and will never be ready? I assume I do still have the main cats, otherwise I would have a memory fault.

I tried all recommendations, however not sure what else I can do, besides driving more?

Have you done the whole FTP drive cycle to force all sensors to readiness state?

There is a lot of info in various threads on the forum on the emissions readiness topic, the one linked below is older but has a good visual that shows all the different things you need to do. You don't have to do all the tests in one drive cycle, but the clock will stop if you hit the brakes or clutch (if manual), go over 3000 RPM, use too much throttle, etc. You have to drive very deliberately and you will likely have to do the drive cycles 2-3 times in order to satisfy all the requirements.

I went thru this on my E92 within the last year after car mostly sat for a long time and it was able to pass CA smog with a BPM tune. I had to do 3 separate drives over a couple of days to set all my readiness flags, but the total miles driven was not that significant... maybe 30 miles total.

I also used a dedicated app called 'OBD Auto Doctor' in conjunction with a bluetooth OBD dongle to give more insight to which specific readiness flags are ready or not. I found this more useful than Carly or Torque.

I am not sure about your specific question about the heated catalyst. I would assume if the ECU reports it as not supported, it is not something you need to worry about. The fact that your oxygen sensor shows as not tested usually means you haven't satisfied all the test requirements yet (which you'd use the FTP drive cycle to try to force).

Thank you for your input. I drove today again and have 200 miles after replacing the battery.

Everything looks okay, besides the Oxygen Sensor. I drove for sure 30 minutes below 60mph and less than 3000rpm. Not sure what else to do. Don't think that the car is tuned.

Looks like at least my cats are working? Lambda 1 before and after cat, according to this reading.

I know it's annoying but I would seriously try the two middle parts of the drive cycle at least a few more times since these are specifically what test the oxygen sensor readiness:



Use the digital speedo in the instrument cluster to more accurately gauge your speed. You can't exceed 3000 RPM, can't have excessive throttle, can't exceed 60 MPH (30 MPH for the low speed portion), can't touch brakes, can't touch clutch/change gears or else the timer pauses. You don't have to do everything all at once, but the clock will effectively pause every time you do any one of the things above.

It will take you longer than you think unless you have rural/unpopulated areas where you can drive slowly at steady speeds for several minutes at a time. It feels very unnatural but if you follow the rules of the drive cycle it should work.

Had cleared the codes to reset all monitors, still the same outcome.

Will replace all oxygen sensors and flash the DME.

Without proof but I think the car had a tune as the exhaust tone changed a bit. It does sound quieter now, which is okay for me.
