Still testing. Getting used to how the boost readings have changed since I moved the boost to the Air Pump Inlet location. azn4x4 what kind of readings do you get from the boost tap at this location? I get boost all the time. Makes some sense as the blower is always making flow.

I still feel it is not perfect. Again, if I roll into the throttle, it is great. If I mash the gas, it seems to just struggle making boost. But the roads here are reallllllllyyyyy hard to test on so I need to find some time to go for a rip where I can go WOT for a while.

One other thing we got going on here is some heat - and boy this thing does heat soak in traffic. Running 54C today in bumper to bumper bullshit.

So, as soon as I know more, I will post about it!!!
Thank you!

Let me know what else you find. I know how irritating it is chasing the boost issue. I've been chasing my leak for what seems like a year now.

One thing you can check is your intake hose that leads to the filter.

I helped a member troubleshoot his issue and it was that hose causing issues. Every time he WOT, the hose would collapse and cut out power. It felt like the car was NA.

The whole system is mechanical so there's only a handful of reasons why there's boost issues.

I have my boost tapped at the velocity stack and don't get constant readings. It's at 1 psi below 4K and once I go passed that is when my boost rises.

Hopefully we both find a solution to our problem!

I see 7.5-8 psi. No boost at idle.

Little bit of an update:

I know for sure that there are no boost leaks. See photos. The boost drops at about 1 PSI every 2-3 seconds at 10PSI, not bubbles anywhere.

I recently changed both belt tensioners, just to be sure. There was no evidence of belt slip but tensioners are cheap and easy to change.

Boost line is now tapped to the plenum at the back as discussed. I do see boost peaks with my P3 of up to 9.5PSI.

Still seems to act funny though. With the engine warm but the IATs still low, I still seem to get what feels like it starts to make boost, then it hiccups, then it starts to make some boost again. Sometimes it just feels stronger - and this is usually when I roll onto the throttle gently to WOT. If I hammer on it, that seems to be when the car struggles to make boost consistently. Perhaps I am just losing my mind... But sometimes it just feels right - other times it feels slow - and this is all before any heat soak kicks in with IATs under 40C.

Anyway, now I know there is no boost leak and that there is no way the belts are slipping. BPMSport is the above indicative of a bypass valve issue? If it is, is there anything I can do (other than replace it)?

Thanks again to all that have helped me through this wee bit of an issue.

Cheers,

I moved the boost line to the back of the plenum and it seems I always get good boost. Might just be my mis-calibrated butt dyno...

I have never had a chance to get this on a dyne though so, that I may do later this summer.

Cheers,

Was this ever fully solved? I just installed a G1+ kit and noticed the power is very inconsistent in different ranges of RPMs and pulls. There was also a delay as well in power when getting back on throttle.

I have just changed to a 5mm shorter belt and my issue has stopped, I have seen somewhere that the Ess dct Supercharger tune makes a big difference too.

highly recommend csf rad, oil cooler, dct oil cooler, power steering cooler if you feel like it. https://csfrace.com/csf_products/dir...oling-systems/

you can also replace your coolant with distilled water + Water Wetter, if you dont mind changing it every so often. should mostly eliminate stop n go heat soak issues.

I would also get the ess dct supercharger tune done, and go with a tighter belt, as someone else has recommended.

aside from all that though, im amazed you’re rocking a supercharged s65 up in victoria! you may have the coolest car up there.

How are you seeing 9.5psi on a base G1 kit? Isn't standard boost on that kit like 7-8psi?

Likely has to do with the spike when the TBs close and the BV is opening.

Air is dense in Vic?

Upgrading suspension and other things and will be back on the road soon. But it is winter. So… I want to get a dyno next spring and see what we see.

Ess 625 bouncing boost high rpm

Wanted to throw in my input here.

I have an ess 625 kit (vortech v3). My car makes 7 psi of boost in 1st and second but in 3rd and above I consistently see boost spike between 5 psi and ~3 under constant WOT. (I litterly see the needle jump to 5 and straight back to 3 sometimes bouncing but usually consistent at 3 PSI)

I've been sorting out the rest of the car first so this has been on the backburner. So far I've replaced the BOV, installed tie down brackets, and done a boost leak test (small leak which did not seem major enough to cause this issue).

I'm leaning towards my supercharger needing a rebuild. My next step is to throw a new belt on as the bouncing boost in higher gears seems to indicate belt slip.

I'm using a T and a autometer boost gauge btw. Car definitley feels slow compared to a upgraded turbo m4 and stage 2 f10 M5. Draggy is at about 9 sec in hot weather if I remember corectly (~75 IAT)

Hoping to get this fixed soon. I didn't buy the car for the speed but man is it a little slow for an aftermarket boosted car. Would love a bit more pep
