034 Motorsport Transmission Mounts Review

I wanted to share my experience with replacing my 100K mile original factory transmission mounts on my E92 M3 6MT with 034 Motorsport transmission mounts.

My car is a daily driver and I was looking for a slightly stiffer upgrade to the OEM BMW mounts with little to no noticeable NVH. I'm sorry to say that these mounts do not provide that. I experienced a lot of transmitted driveline vibration from these mounts, most notably around 4K rpm. The driveline vibration was so bad as felt through the shift knob that I replaced every wear item on my driveshaft thinking I had a bad CSB or giubo given the mileage of the car. To my surprise, a complete refresh of the driveshaft did not remedy the vibrations I was feeling. All of a sudden it hit me that the 034 Motorsport transmission mounts could be the culprit, so I ordered and installed new Genuine BMW fluid filled transmission mounts, and the vibrations are gone.

I guess the 034 Motorsport solid rubber mounts which look identical to the factory mounts from the outside are just too stiff to not cause any NVH. This post is meant to be a heads up to any fellow members who see this as a cheap upgrade for more direct shift feel but it definitely comes at a cost of noticeable NVH increase.

100k miles on stockers! My DCT mounts were trashed around 50k. One was completely torn in half, the other about 3/4 through. I replaced mine with Revshift 80A poly since there isn't a stiffer rubber alternative, at least not a couple years ago. I also run the BW stiffened motor mounts. To me they provide just the right amount of feedback, granted my e92 is not my daily, but I'm almost 50 and it is perfectly livable for me.
For all of my manual BMWs (all but the e92) I switch the trans mounts to the Rouge Engineering mounts, they don't narrow in the middle like the stock/034 ones. No added NVH either.

Yeah, I've had the Rogue Engineering Transmission Mounts on my E46 M3 for years and never noticed any noticeable NVH on that upgrade but can't say the same for 034 Motorsport mounts for the E9X M3 so had to reverse it and go back to stock units as I was not willing to make the compromise.

The shifter feel felt tighter will less movement during aggressive driving with the 034 Motorsport units but I kept feeling the increased driveline vibration and it kept making me think something was loose or broken, wasn't worth the trade off in giving up having a vibration-free feeling driveline.

I had the same the experience with them. I had the OEM mounts out and figured I might as well replace them even though they looked pretty fresh. Switched to the 034 mounts and when idling the transmission noise was so loud, I thought something must be broken. I have a crappy SPEC clutch right now and the combined noise from both was unbearable.
Switched back to the old OEM mounts and I can sit in the car at idle without getting a headache.

Interesting. I recently did a clutch masters flywheel and clutch (don't do this) and the NVH is absolutley terrible. I don't think anyone would find it acceptable for a street car. However, I spent alot of money and am not looking to redo the job anytime soon. I installed a rtd shifter and 034 motorsports mounts at the same time.

In 4th gear low rpm under load it sounds absolutley terrible (like a bag of bolts rattling around). However the rtd unit feels amazing and the noise at idle isn't bad considering its a single mass unit.

However, I defintley do not feel like the trade off for a lw flywheel and uprated clutch is worth it (fx350+). RTD shifter is though!

Maybe I will try out the oem mounts to see if it helps at all. I didn't attribute this to the mounts and honestly I think the NVH from the clutch/fw is too much to notice the mounts.

my lightweight flywheel does the same thing, its bad at low rpm no matter what speed and the shifts tend to be high effort to make things go smoothly but I would definitely retain stock transmission mounts. no reason to have a hard transmission mount on a street car. im running bimmerworld mounts and I have a suspicion they are failing or already have failed so im definitely planning on going back to oem corteco, not worth the extra rumble and vibration for me.

When I had the 034 mounts in the NVH was probably about double compared to the stock mounts. I'm going to put a stock clutch/DMF back in soon because while the idle noise is bearable with the stock mounts, the SPEC clutch is dragging and making first and second hard to get into. Maybe once I put in the DMF I'll give the 034 mounts another try and report back.

If you do go back to stock mounts let me know if the RTD shifter feel suffers at all. I went with an Autosolutions SSK over the chassis mounted options partly because I was worried about using the compliant stock mounts.

M3Enthusiast , AYSchweiz , Kprad12 ,

I just fired up a similar thread on these, when y’all got the 034 tranny mounts were they making their Street Density line you purchased? I just checked their site and those are 70A today, which should be noticeably less NVH than the 80A Revshift mounts that powerbait is running and I’m leaning towards. I suspect they weren’t making those then but curious if you have any insight to the durometer you had from 034.
