CAN Bus and Power Isolator

Alright this is a continuation of my GWS thread where I devised a simple CAN and Power isolator for those who don't have/need the whole GWS solution.

The basic idea is that I've found aftermarket data logging equipment incredibly noisy and not at all something I want to expose my car's critical CAN busses too, so I just made a small little device that you can install between the car's CAN bus (PT-CAN in our case) and the data logging equipment that will isolate the two so there's no chance of anything interfering with the car.

It also isolates power, and allows for an isolated power input, that the car has the ability to switch to eliminate the possibility of anything draining your battery.

I'm making an initial batch of 10 of these, 9 of which will be for sale for $150 each. After these 9 they will be $200.

The list:
1.
2. tdott*
3.
4. roastbeef
5. mikentosh*
6. VicS5
7.RalliartRsX
8.
9.

All, please confirm that you want the CAN isolator and didn't think this was for the whole GWS.

And today's update is I got the boards in for the isolator, Just have to flash some firmware and test and they should be ready to rock.

I'll just have to put one in my car and get some pics for an install guide.

Does the larger system with the gear selector have this feature integrated as well?

I want the full gear selector kit!

This. Understand it’ll be a different price, but want the whole enchilada.

Yes the GWS does have this same functionality, with the one caveat that the isolator has an AUX power input. The GWS only has the standard power input so its outputs are limited to about 2 amps. The Isolator has a 5 amp output when using the aux power in.

The GWS is also tied to the PT-CAN and only runs at 500kbps, the isolator could be used on any CAN bus, and will auto detect the bus speed.

Yep, I’m in for the isolator. I’m happy with the GWS setup that I have now, but would like to keep the AIM traffic isolated.

What's your GWS setup out of curiosity?

Got the first batch wrapped up. I have OEM matched wire coming in Monday or Tuesday to make the pig-tail and then I can ship out the pre-orders. I'll be in touch via PM to give everyone payment info. (Shopify store coming soon)

Lots more coming! I've talked to a few different larger companies over the past few years about product ideas and everyone has all but pulled any development for the E9x platform. I'm planning on going HAM on cool shit for them.

Wire in, cut stripped, and terminated. Last things missing is the packaging, which will be in tomorrow, and install doc that I'm hoping to get done tonight.

This is how the unit will be sent:

Got some time to create the installation guide. Let me know if this makes sense or if something isn't clear and I'll update it.

Units going out today to those who paid!

CAN and Power isolator installation.pdf

I'm also not totally sure about the JBBF87 vs JBBF70. According to TIS either was valid but neither of them look exactly what's in my car.
