Camshaft faults

Good morning everyone.

So to get it as short as possible I have 2716/2717 camshaft intake/exhaust no signal. Engine was rebuilt and I give them new rockecovers, but I don't remember if the sensors was there or not. But just looking around I found the ground cable in that condition.

I wonder if that could be the problem? Looks like the wires still connected with no protection, so I think this could be a future problem but not the fault I have?

If I saw this and had the errors for the device utilizing this connector, I would source a new connector, pins, rubber wire grommets, proper crimp tool for pin tips and cut back to the good cable and re terminate. Then clears codes and keep an eye out. All of the parts are easily viewed on realoem.

That's the exhaust camshaft sensor connector.

I played a bit yesterday with it. I have power and ground, and at list the middle cable works up to the dme for the intake one (I couldn't find the one for the exhaust).

But it was late, so I put everything back and check the fault and... Check engine light off.

And actually that connector is damaged on the top too. I'm looking for actually extend the cable and then or make a new one or buy the actual cable+ plug. It definitely needs to be done because it will brake at some point.
