Brass caliper bushings

During a routine pad swap and brake bleed last night I noticed that there seemed to be a small but noticeable amount of movement between the fixed caliper bracket and the caliper itself at each wheel when a significant amount of pressure was applied to the brake. I am assuming the rubber caliper bushings have worn out after 81K miles and a half dozen HPDE weekends.

I see FCP offers a rear kit for the E92 M3 - anyone know if this is an OEM BMW part or aftermarket? I have a store credit with them so I'd like to buy there if possible.

Also, this seems to be the same kit - any reason to pay double elsewhere? I have a charge pipe from X-PH on my X5 and the quality was decent.

it's aftermarket.

didn't really use my OEM calipers longs before i went to a Alcon BBK, but it's something i would do 100% if i was on oem brakes.

Sweet! I have the rears on the way from FCP and fronts coming from Bimmerworld. Excited to throw them in before my HPDE in a few weeks at PittRace.

I have been using the bimmerworld ones for some time now they’re all the same. Haven’t had any issues with mine but I do check them after every oil change interval and just make sure they’re greased up. Make sure you use slide pin lube.

FCP recommended a copper one but I see Permatex now makes a CERAMIC EXTREME slide pin lube (read in Hulk Hogan voice). Wonder what that's all about. ....

I keep debating going brass...not sure I am good enough with HPDE to reap the benefits.

That is what I use to lube my slide pins. After a track day when I'm swapping back to street pads, I notice there isn't a lot, if any, grease left on the pins. The small remains of grease that is left toward the back, hex side isn't as slick either. Not sure it's a really a problem and everything seems to work fine, but it's just an observation.

I always used the tried and true green goop brake lube but recently switched over to the CERAMIC EXTREME because it's way less messy. No observable difference after a few events.

The tolerance between the pin and brass bushing is pretty tight so there should not be a lot of lube on the pins when removing. Also, when applying you really only need a film.

is that stuff any different than ATE lube? the stuff you put on the back of a street pad?

I think they are very similar regarding usage/application, but I'm sure the grease formula is different. The ATE is a gray paste whereas the Permatex ceramic extreme is bright purple.

I chose the Permatext stuff because of the super high-temperature rating and because I have always liked Permatex stuff in the past.

I installed the brass bushings at all 4 corners. Not thrilled with the quality of the Bimmerworld pins, the hex was really poorly broached and not very deep either. I was able to get it to torque up but can see it stripping if I'm not careful. Also had to grind the inside of the front calipers with a small flap wheel to make room for the c-clip to seat fully. Not sure why they don't just make the bushing a hair longer.

The bushings don't seem to make a huge difference...we'll see how they feel on track.

I installed them with Hawk pads and never really noticed a big difference. The pads are more noticeable from OEM then the brass fittings. About a year ago I was replacing my front pads and realized that one of the fittings had sheared off. Ordered new ones to keep it consistent with the other caliper. so far so good but I think if anything they’re just a little bit tighter than the rubber bushings. But negligible. One thing that I found odd but that is what FC P suggest is that the metal clip on the front calipers has to be removed. Which may have been the cause of one of the brass fittings shearing at the head.
