ESS Supercharger Vortech Dipstick
Can anyone take a pic and maybe measure the length of their Vortech (not G1) supercharger dipstick? Or point me to documentation on what degree clock it is? I think it should be 45deg, but I believe my unit was shipped with 0deg. Having some major issues with ESS support and would like some help / anecdotal evidence.
Thanks! https://vortechsuperchargers.com/pro...nt=33381429386 |

Is the unit not yet installed in the car? Do a little table top mach installation to approximate the position in car. |

The unit is installed and I am fairly certain the wrong dipstick was sent with my VT1-550 refurb kit, with the unit "partially" filled with oil (approx 1oz). The dipstick read full at the time of install. Its appearance does not match what was shown in the manual, but I didn't question it at the time of install. It did not occur to me that there are various types of dipsticks at the time...
FYI the manual clearly states that the dipstick should be on the lower hole, which it is for my blower unit. The vent plug was also missing and there was a sealed plug in its place as well. These factors indicated to me that the blower unit was filled from the factory, but that was an incorrect assumption and caused me to run the S/C on low oil for approx. 2000 miles. I'd like to confirm the dipstick length with other owners if possible, and determine whether this is a packager error or my own misjudgment. I have spoken to Vortech and they have stated that the third party packager (in this case ESS) should have all of this information, but ESS has been unwilling/unable to provide confirmation for me. Support with ESS has been incredibly frustrating and I am at the point where I am just about to give up on them regardless of the outcome. Probably keep running the unit for another couple thousand miles (only put 2000-2500 miles per year on the car), examine oil and send it in directly to Vortech to get rebuilt if needed. |
