Weird Code and can’t diagnose: Exhaust Bank 2 Cam Sensor
Hello all.
Well having a weird one. Car was having trouble loosing engine power on track sporadically and also not wanting to start. and all things where pointing toward throttle actuators. Replaced those car now starts strong and everything seemed good to go. First on track get about 3 laps and then got a Reduced power check engine light. Code read was 2719. Which reads out as Exhaust Bank 2 can sensor. We replaced that and now we are getting the same code again. Checked wiring and everything seems tight are secure. Any help? How to test the sensor properly or really anything else to check? Thanks. Adam

Suspect timing issues
Hey there, I’m running into the exact same code, however right after my complete rebuild
. The car starts and immediately dies afterwards, if i hold the revs it’s very clear that the engine is misfiring badly. Im going to check my timing on bank 2 tomorrow and keep you updated. If you find a solution please tell me, as im pretty sure the timing was set correctly set on my engine. (But i guess i suck since im a DIYer with too much ambition. Im seriously about to lose my mind at this point after 6 months of work and tens/thousands of dollars and seeing this problem on my first startup. Lowkey starting to regret doing tackling this rebuild as i probably lost 5 years of life expectancy so far.Last edited by Noskilljustballs; 06-25-2024 at 03:49 AM.. |

do a vanos solenoid test on ista and see if it is off its parameters. i believe it might be an oiling issue to the vanos.

So update, I just retimed the engine, althought it was already in time, the same issue arises. Almost sounds like something is slapping at an slow rate in the engine (sounds like the vanos spring? Unsure). I even disconnected the vanos solenoids, no change. I will buy ista p to try and diagnose the issue further, but so far still very clueless, any help would be very much appreciated.

So….what solved the issues for me was got the oil level correct, it was way overfilled…., and replaced all 4 vanos sensors.
Did all the ista tests and everything was in spec before these changes. My suspicion is that when the oil got warm, because it would idle just fine, that it got too thick and made the sensor think there was a clearance issue. BTW running Redline 50WT if that means anything but been using that for about 7 years now. Honestly think it was just the oil overfill.

Speaking of oil, im on 10w40 break in oil from motul, perhabs that's the reason? Will change to 10w60 to see just in case, but oil level should be fine, just really rough idle, and almost feels like my vanos just isnt working.
