X-Pipe Support Brace Torque Specs?
Can someone please provide the torque specs for where the support brace bolts to the center of the X-Pipe? Found the spec for where the brace mounts to the chassis, but not the X-Pipe itself.

This link is your friend. Keep it forever. I think what you are describing is a 13mm bolt, 21Nm.

There are two X pipe diagrams in the post. I think '6' that you are referring to is actually pointing to the bracket itself. There are two holes in the center of the bracket that are unused. See the secondary photo below it.
Those 4 larger bolts on the outside torque @ 24Nm There is no torque standard for the two smaller nut/bolt combos further in - there's what looks like a #7 rubber bushing (for lack of better description) above it in the first diagram in this post that the bolt passes through. Note that there are no bolts in the center of the plate though there are holes. The bolt I initially referenced as a 13mm bolt @ 21Nm was #10 in this diagram, however it is actually a torx bolt. But it's an M8 thread and the torque setting is still 21Nm. Last edited by CamasM3e93; 05-29-2024 at 08:18 AM.. |

Yes #6 is the bracket itself, and then the four outer bolts that torque to 24Nm. It's the 2 inboard nuts/bolts that pass through what also looked like a hanger/bushing to me, that I wanted to know but couldn't find anywhere on TIS. Good to know the 13mm bolt specs still, as this particular X-Pipe has brackets provided there. A lot of guddentight with BMW it seems, which doesn't bother me at all... |
