Exhaust recommendations
After getting my money back (in store credit) for my Turner exhaust, I’m looking to upgrade to a new system. I need something that won’t drone!
Can anyone pitch in on the following ones: AA Gen 2, Supersprint, Dinan, or anything else ECS/Turner sells? I’m currently running test pipes if that changes anything, I’d also run a different x pipe |

With test pipes every option that proclaims it doesn’t drone - that claim doesn’t apply unless factory X pipe is used. |

Dinan is great. Have had it for many years. No drone and a somewhat more aggressive exhaust tone than stock, but it is in keeping with the car overall.
Intake/engine sound FTW in any event, so a loud aggressive exhaust isn't a priority for me. I can't comment on test pipes + Dinan. My exhaust set up is stock other than the Dinan portion. |

I enjoyed my Eisenmann Race with test pipes, deep and throaty, no drone. Loved it. Here’s a video https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1857014
Now I have a catless but resonated BW xpipe paired with it and it’s much louder but also picked up a bit of drone between 2-3k. |

I have a full Dinan midpipe and exhaust. I still feel like it’s the best of both worlds. Loud enough for a little attention and virtually no drone unless you’re in 6th gear stomping on it at 40 mph.

I'd be going Dinan all in. I researched no-drone exhausts extensively and Dinan was basically the #1 choice. I also like the tips* and how they're one straight diameter right off the muffler.
Of course, sound is most important, and I think it has the best tone I've personally heard on a E9x M3. Test/X-Pipes seem to only enhance it without degrading the quality one bit. That's because of the engineering that went behind it. Reading Steve Dinan's white paper explains why. Not a surprise it doesn't drone AND sounds as good as it does. Test pipes increase propensity for drone. Really any change to reduce restriction in the x pipe will do so.
If an aftermarket exhaust pitches itself as being drone-free, understand that that claim is when fitted to a factory x pipe. Once you alter the upstream, those promises are void. This is how it was explained to me by the engineer at Borla when I was in your shoes shopping options. Drone is subjective. I can hear a tone from my Corsa at freeway speeds. Some would call it drone but to me drone is both continuous and disresonant, meaning unpleasant to the ear. The corsa is not disresonant. |

I run the AA Test Pipes with Oem X-Pipe and the Meistershaft GT2 axle portion.
It's pretty quiet at idle and can easily have a conversation with passenger on the highway. But when you decide to press the fun pedal down, it absolutely opens up. I'd spent about 2 weeks researching different exhaust sounds/combinations but settled on this one as it fit all of my needs. That and due to still retaining the secondary cats, it doesn't run me out of my garage due to the typical uncatted smell. |

Test pipes paired with either the Corsa or Eisenmann race is chef's kiss.
Both sound beautiful, Corsa a bit more exotic but the E-Race is just all-around bad ass. If you're not touching the x-pipe, the Borla Atak, Corsa and MPE (if you like quieter) are all great options. |

Are you just running the axleback exhaust or changing out x-pipe as well?

If not 'satisfied' with tones/ spectrum, considering an alternative Ti X-pipe omgzirra_exe shared; post below: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showpo...16&postcount=6

Newer setups have adjustable tips! I like that. Mine is static. I really like the SS F1 race paired with a 200cell secondary xpipe.

So gratification gonna be a bit delayed, until my shop scheduled install. Trust me... excited to 'hear' results mated w/ existing stainless, cat-less, quad resonated X-pipe as well. Although really luv current RPI axle-back sound... anticipating a level-up increase in sound volume, improved WOT more exotic tone. That, while still reasonably 'civilized' for daily driving/cop avoidance in SoCal As an original owner, chose to avoid inevitable 'valved exhaust' failures. Ole IB is an absolute keeper for the long haul; rollin' on 75K mls, no end in sight S65 6MT for Life!
