08 air filter replacement

I just picked up a 2008 and wanted to change the air filter. I was on FCP and read that it wont fit without an updated airbox or airbag cover from 2010 and on.

Does anyone know where to get a regular filter for the airbag I have? I do not want to spend $600+ on an updated airbox

Any other way around this?

Surely the dealer must keep filter also for the earlier box?

From FCP "Mahle and BMW discontinued early production air filters, p/n 13727838805"

And when I search BMW USA for 13727838805 it only gives me 13727838804 which is only for post 9/2009 cars

Go it. Although BMW design nice products their customer support/service never impressed.

Bummer. And the plastic box is 600 dollar..?!?! That seems total madness even for BMW.

Check on autozone or advanced auto for the parts number and take the ome part number and slap it in too Google and it should show you the cheapest options, I used this tactic to get 2 vanos solenoids for only $67. This tactic applies across the board for pretty much any car but it works best with car with larger aftermarket support

I've been using BMC air filters for over 10 year now on multiple of my e92 m3's, they work great and work like a charm.

You don’t need the airbox all you need is the back end nipple
