x pipe NVH

Hey all,

I’ve had the Bomiz catless x-pipe (questionable build quality), and now the MS catless x pipe with the active autowerke axleback, and with both I seem to have some NVH transferred to the center console which causes the center console to rattle at lower RPMs (<2,000 rpm). I’ve made sure nothing is touching any heat shielding or the center exhaust bracket. I think this is just normal NVH from a catless x pipe. Has anyone tried adding resonators to quiet the amount of NVH transferred?

In my experience there is NVH introduced with a lot of setups.

I ran AA rear V1 for a couple years and 2-2.5k rpms had some NVH/drone associated with and without an aftermarket midsection. Don’t believe this caused any rattling though - I’m very particular about interior rattles. All supporting brackets are tight and in place?

I have a AA midsection and that turns my car into a race car sound box with the larger pipe diameter. More sound, more feel, more everything….

Yuo I’ve checked the brackets! What midsection did you have? Any NVH at 1-2k rpms in first/second?

Currently I’m running AA test pipes with stock midsection and Turner valved rear section; no NVH right now.

I had the Active Autowerkz mid section w/ high flow primaries or test pipe options. I mostly ran high flow primary option because test pipes + AA mid+ AA rear section was insanely loud (and glorious). Even with high flow primaries, it was super loud and aggressive like an American muscle car, so would be fair to say 1-4k would be a bit nasty till it cleaned up in the higher rpm’s, with 2-3k being the harshest.

I did run the AA section with my current Turner axle back and do not recall any crazy vibrations or anything. I would think the rear section may be causing its fair share, I recall even with completely stock mid section the AA rear would still drone a bit. Was worth it though, still one of the best sounding options IMO. I gave my old cans to a buddy and recently ran on the freeway yesterday with him and was like DAMN, still sounds great. (Test pipes/tune is his setup).
