DCT Overheating On Track?
I was at a track event yesterday where the afternoon temperature got up to 32C. I was doing 25 minute sessions. Engine temp got up to 137C as per data logger (Solo2 DL).
Towards the end of each afternoon sessions, I noticed the DCT would upshift quite aggressively where I got a harsh jolt. Downshift was also delayed, where a few times the car downshifted well after the braking zone, a good 1 to 2 second delay. Power wise, my car is pretty much stock. Only intake and exhaust. But I do have coilovers, cf driveshaft and bbk. I'm also on 200tw tires. Is this a symptom of overheating DCT or is it low on fluid? I didn't get any DCT overheat warning on the dash though. Is it time to invest in cooling mods? Like oil and dct cooler? |

Recommend a dct cooler at minimum. I ran a full do88 setup ("big pack") and the car never complained. The do88 dct cooler is nearly twice the size of the original.
Other things to try are the gts +1L banjo bolt and fill method and larger aluminum oil pan. I personally never tried that as I didn't have overheating issues with the do88 kit. do88 might run a black Friday promo so maybe hold out tilll November? Good luck! |
