No, not the actuators, as far as I know.

Note: I don't know who made these alleged faulty covers, but who sold 'em is that guy.
It’s the Euro(pean) con nex. Damn it’s hard to get it around the **** filtering

Has anyone looked at the Vargas Turbo cover? I like that their design are similar to oem in that many of the clips are tied together. I would think that'll help prevent one from slipping off.

So far, the incidents with them unclipping so to speak involve only these vanos covers?

There have been issues with slon covers as well. In addition to the people that have documented their issues in this thread including myself, there have been a few people that have reached out to me privately who also had Slon clips coming undone.

I'll say it again folks: Bolt on covers are the only answer.

Was it confirmed that the clips came undone a/o to installation issue?

At the rate these issues are appearing I don't think it's due to poor install. Many of these cases are installed by reputable mechs who have done it many times.

Carefully loooking through the clips all the main are in place, and I can't say I spot any wear. At this point feel confident enought to continue driving with a smile. Did the small clips came off simply due to centrifugal force? They are pretty sturdy so still find it hard to believe, but maybe the case. Anyways, as long as the main ones are in place I'm fine.

Btw first time getting the fan out, which turned out to be the challenge in this "project", jeez!

Ps. Replaced the metal gasket. Will follow up on possible leaks and report back.
Ps. Ps. Forgot to put the DCT in neutral (under the shift nob). Worked fine so apparently while it locks the wheels apprently it doesn't look the engine. Just FYI for the next DCT guy.
Quick update; checked for leaks after pulling the timing cover only. At least after limited driving it seems fine. Should anyone else thinking about checking the driver side cover in this easy way.

After about 1500 miles I had my valve covers replaced again and the Evolve Tuning Vanos covers were still fully on the gears.

Time will tell if these will be a bullet proof solution.

looks like Mehenker is replacing the spring posts with capped posts with a T profile to pin the spring in place and discarding covers altogether.

And that’s why these are the only ones I stand by or offer, I’ll installed whatever customer wants. But the liability of the snap on ones always scared me when I saw them come out.

Even if it’s not a product failure, it’s so easy for anyone to install the snap on ones wrong by not getting every tab to click.

Okay. Those do look fugly...but who cares when the valve cover, covers them up and it's such a simple solution..? Seems to solve the problem easy.

Do you have a link to those glorified big washers? These should be very easily affordable.

Also, the VANOS bolt looks very close to the end of the head cover there. Did you have to clearance it at all? Or does it fit just fine?

Do the bolt heads clear the head cover just fine? Thought I read the Carbahn washers require some machining in the head cover to clear the bolt heads, and that was why the MPorium covers had a recessed seat for the bolts.

A friend went the Carbahn route and the dealership installed without the OEM washers because the disc itself can be considered a washer, one big-ass washer. Plenty of room this way, they checked with the washers and didn’t like the clearance.

Yes this is confirmed. Several owners here also went Carbahn and replaced the stock small washer with the Carbahn big washer. No other mods/grinding required.
