Well done StripclubDJ !
Owen, love the progress thus far!
How much in weight savings came from all the wiring?

I don’t have an exact figure but I’m guessing around 56 lbs though that includes the ebrake and related pieces.

Started in on the engine bay yesterday. Steve said that the engine internally looks super clean (I have no idea what I’m looking at )

Owen are you planning to relocate the ECU box in the passenger side of the engine bay to somewhere else in the car?

That was never discussed and not something I have ever contemplated. Is there an advantage to moving it?

I am not qualified to answer that question as I don't even own a toolbox (facepalm)

I was just suggesting from strictly a visually-appealing perspective.

Ah, now I understand. For me, "visually-appealing" does not apply to things under the hood. If there were some practical/performance aspect, then I would at least consider.

Some additional weight savings (i) AC pieces from engine bay; (ii) remaining wiring; (iii) e-brake pieces; misc stuff; and (iv) smaller battery (not pictured here (already installed) but another 8 lbs savings). Each of the figures shown on the scale need to be reduced by 3.6 lbs since that is the empty box weight.

Also, I don't know how much fuel currently sits in the tank. So, I will guess 25 lbs and then add back the front bumper and new front aero (guessing high at 25 lbs combined?) brings the total to...2,794.

However, if dogbone gets his way and I upgrade to the new AP rear brakes, that would be another 25 lb savings, so 2,769!!!!!

How did you deal with the power steering belt routing when you removed the AC compressor?

You need a PS pump that spins in the opposite direction and then to source the appropriate belt. Here's the needed pump and I don't yet know about the belt specs but will update the thread once EAS resolves.

I was just curious how you did it. I actually just got an S85 pump and swapped the guts into my S65 housing. It was 1/4 the price of finding an OG S65 pump. There was a thread around about it.

Ah, you attribute to me too much technical knowledge/knowhow. In reality, I say to Steve at EAS "I would like to lose more weight. What do you think about removing the AC system." And then Steve just does it (or has it done) and shares with me a description of the needed parts.

Owen, are you converting to EPS (Electric Power Steering)?

Lot to be said for that. For completeness of the record here are my trials and tribulations deleting AC on a newer S65: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showth...=198848&page=2

Some progress being made. We have been in a bit of a holding pattern while waiting on backordered parts and chasing a particularly difficult electrical issue. However, as of today, all has been resolved so things should wrap up in the next few weeks.

New brakes went on today.

AIM dash is in, as are all new coolers including the Euro Power Motorsports Power Steering Reservoir.

Refreshed suspension was delivered today, so that should go on shortly. Although, that stock setup the car is currently sitting on does look good...

Still need to install the removable KMP, Aerocatch for front bumper, front aero, clean up the wiring, etc.

The goal is to have everything buttoned up in time for a proposed November 9 shakedown day at Buttonwillow.

One step at a time. I haven't even been on track since 10/2022 and now it's a COMPLETELY different car after shedding somewhere around 500 lbs (final weight tbd) and greatly improving the aero.

if youre going with SDC? i think thats a pre-test day for most GTA competitors too so you can get some good feedback.

That's the goal, though I have no idea if the car will be ready.
