Bad news (TLDR cracked engine block)

Hello, I titled the thread bad news but to be completely honest, terrible news is probably the most accurate. Maybe even the worst news, I bought a E92 M3 then I found an oil leak (this isn’t the worst news part) so I took it to a local shop and they said it was oil filter housing gasket and fixed it. When I went to pick the car up though it was giving a low coolant message and the shop told there’s no way since they had just put some in, and that it might just need to recalibrate. So I took it home then the next day I went to get something to eat and noticed it was still leaking oil. After that drove home and wasn’t going to drive it until I got everything fixed but as I got into my neighborhood the car started saying low coolant again and the temp had went up a little bit. I pulled it into my garage and got out and beginning at my driveway it was leaking coolant and it got on the wheel and all down the side near the door handle. I towed it back to the same shop and left it with them since I was going out of town for the week. They ended up calling and told me that a cap was off and that was where the coolant was from, but the oil leak was a new one from the head gasket. I have a warranty so I called them and they went to the shop to inspect and told me they couldn’t tell where it was coming from they need the shop to clean the engine. After that, I don’t know if the shop discovered it or the warranty person or both, but the shop called me and said it wasn’t the head gasket it was the timing cover (which my warranty doesn’t cover), and sent these videos (

A couple days later the second shop called and told me they didn’t see any leaks coming from the timing cover and if there is it’s so little they can’t see it, but the big oil leak (the one the first shop claimed was the head gasket then the timing cover) was coming from the valve covers, and asked if I wanted them to do the repair. that somebody had previously sealed. They told me they can reseal it but they can’t gurantee it’ll last/how long it’ll last. Any advice at all? I figured there won’t really be any, but I also figured it can’t hurt to ask, and maybe I’ll gain some knowledge of some sort.

You need to get or supply proper diagnostic, take it to a bmw dealership. the timing cover has multiple components and your warranty should cover it under all circumstances.

It’s a third party warranty not one from BMW :/

im aware, what is the name of the company? the oil filter housing job is an easy one to screw up, especially if a non competent technician is carrying out the job.

It was a local shop here called Fonse Automotive but the shop that has it now is called Forza Automotive they’re the ones that told me the block was cracked
