BTW on the intercooler bleeding thing, I know that my shop who installed it knows what they're doing, but I guess I'm wondering whether the gurgling noise I hear when the pump is running with engine off is a sign of a problem or is just what it should sound like?
You should hear fluid flowing; I hear no gurgling on mine. Assuming your reservoir is filled up to the bottom of the inlet lines just below the cap (which could be the other source of noise), sounds like you have air in the system somewhere that needs to be burped. I seem to recall going through a couple cycles making sure the intercooler was free from air on my install but for the most part the installation doesn’t allow for much air trapping. But there’s a possibility your shop ran a line in a manner that created a P-trap so to speak where air could collect. Also check all your hose clamp fittings, the ones that come with the kit can vibrate free if installed incorrectly.

First gear is really short so traction isn’t the best, but in 2nd I can hook up perfectly fine if it’s 65+ out.

Thanks! I'll investigate those points and try to identify exactly where the noise originates. I downloaded the install manual and found the bleeding instructions, looks straightforward.

I found that you had perfect access to the air bleeder if you removed the duct in the picture. Two torx screws and two clips and its off. Gives enough room to get a 10mm box end wrench around the bleeder and acceptable room to turn the wrench. Not bad at all really.

I don’t think Mike is willing to help with this, so to get it done, I need to find another tuner. Yes, all is well with my car, just the same minor bugs that have always plagued this setup but nothing that is not livable. I put a ton of miles on the car and at least it is very reliable. I have already put 30,000 miles on the car since Harrop install. I have done nothing lately short of a “Ricer” full titanium engine bay fastener overhaul. Some will like others will hate. Personally I like it and probably shaved off a whole pound, Ha!

I think that’s the way with all tuners that also sell superchargers. ESS won’t touch any car running smaller pulleys or ethanol blends.

Mike won’t do e85 period regardless of the supercharger kit you have. He will only want you to use a proflex commander which hardly make anymore than a 93 tune. Glad I switched to Rk tunes from Bpm.

Are you happy with RK?
Are you running full E85?

I want an “active” tune using a flex fuel monitor for ethanol percentage. Also want to solve the AIT issue, and trust me it is a major issue.

I think many of us who have ethanol stations relatively close by feel the same way. I don’t mind filling up jugs at my station 25 miles away and adding fuel in the garage, but I don’t want to be in a situation where I’m stranded somewhere and cannot fuel up since there is no ethanol nearby.

That’s one characteristic I miss about my N54 that had flex fuel.

100% satisfied with his tune.Running full e85.I’m not going to bash Mike but I will be straight up.I purchased his upgraded injectors red clip to run e85.I was informed by him the fuel pump would prevent me from doing so, well I copied the n54 guys and added a secondary fuel pump. Afterwards he no longer wants to provide e85 tune and if he does he won’t provide any support and charges 200$ to read data logs. I busted up laughing and hit up Jordan. Provided me a file for my ID 1000 after doing some data logs sent them back and he made some fine tuning. He could of done the Porsche injectors as well but I’m going to be building the motor soon so I just went 100% in.

Sounds like I will be contacting him soon then! Are you running active fuel monitoring or not? There is so much variation in ethanol percentage even at the same station that a “standard” “one size fits all” tune is not good for full E85. I have two other cars on full E85 about 13 years now. You pretty much have to run a flex fuel monitor or you willl knock all time with higher boost. E85 is more like E70 most of the time and have seen as low as mid 40’s at times. Propel stations are somewhat more consistent. I think with the standard 6-7 psi on full E85 it could be left unmonitored though. I don’t even think a second FP is necessary at stage 1 boost levels.

Hello I have to replace the gasket on my valve covers and I am Harrop supercharged I was wondering if there is anything else in need to do or should do while my valve covers are off and my supercharger plenum is off. Do I need to replace any seals or gaskets with the supercharger system. Thank you very much

It’s mostly optional but common considerations:

Vanos covers. oil separator gaskets and o rings. The oil cap wears out and causes a leak confused with leaking valve cover gaskets. There’s a separate metal gasket on each side on the front of each valve covers. Can consider cam position sensors or just the o rings. Spark plugs, spark plug tubes, fuel injectors, ignition coils ….it can add up fast depending on how long you want to keep your wallet open. There’s a few threads on the topic. The only thing internal though are the vanos covers.

If you want piece of mind, refresh everything under the V as well. Throttle actuators (get lifetime units), fuel breather, idle air control valve and starter.

All of those things require the removal of the supercharger to replace.

It suddenly becomes a much bigger problem if one of those items has an issue, and you are not close to home, or on a road trip or something. Now you need to find someone that is not only capable of replacing the offending item, but willing to deal with removing the supercharger as well.

That was very helpful, thanks!

I tried to bleed the system but it didn't appear to have any air in it. So I started up the pump cold, and I could hear what sounded like air moving through the system, seemingly somewhere down around the pump. I then drove the car far enough that it had ample time to fully warm up - including some high-rev shenanigans - and when I arrived at my destination, I popped the hood and ran the pump hot. To my surprise, the sound of air in the system was completely gone, making me think the air may just collect when the intercooler circuit cools to ambient, and then works itself out as it warms up. In any case, I can't detect anything negative in performance of the car.

I should probably clarify I don't think air is "collecting" in the system but rather moving around. As in maybe it rises to the top (reservoir) when it comes up to temp. I dunno, best hypothesis I have.

Does anyone here have trouble with the 2-3 shift? Before the supercharger, that shift was a bit tricky on my car with 100k mile engine mounts, but I had the mounts replaced with new OE units when I had the bearings done, and it was like new after that. Fast forward to the Harrop, and it feels a lot like it did with worn mounts pre-supercharger. Anybody else dealing with this, or else running different mounts? This is only an issue when shifting at high revs.

My issue was 1 to 2 and 3 to 2. Poly mounts, fresh oem tranny mounts, red line transmission fluid, Autosolutions short shift kit with upgraded bushings. All improved matters but the shifting trouble was not fully resolved until I recently replaced my weighted ZHP knob with the heavier Turner knob. Now pretty much perfect. Mine: 100-120k miles, I think first clutch on the car.
