Anyone rushing out to get a 4090?
I have a 2K monitor, so I won't be one of them...my 3080 is chugging along just fine.
Crazy expensive and the power requirements are pretty high. But for 4K gaming, it is doubling the fps of even a 3090 Ti, pretty impressive. Just curious who is out to get one? |

My 3070 TI is doing just fine playing games at 2K. But I also recently bought a PS5 so that will probably take the majority of my gaming time.
I'm going to hold out for a GPU that actually fits in my case. I didn't bother watching reviews after I saw how massive these GPUs were. But if and when the time comes and I want to get one, I hope my 1200W PSU is up to task. |

Nope. It's just the flagship being released today anyways, with the 4070s and 4080s coming soon. Wait a little longer and you'll have better options from everyone else.
I'm trying to build a stout VR machine thats also ready for Starfield when that comes out. I have a build in my NewEgg cart that I have been waiting to pull the trigger on, but the 3090Ti I had in my cart went out of stock. Hoping that comes back in the next couple days, otherwise I'll either get a 3080Ti.

Nope. I have a 3090ti currently and it's more than enough for anything I'm playing.

I've got a 1080ti still & have a build mapped out for the most part, but I am not in a rush to get one. I'll go to my local Microcenter at some point this week or the next & pick one up in-store. I built my current PC around 5 years ago as a 1440p machine, and it is still going strong.

I ordered one. 4k high refresh gaming is a thing now. I also have a high res VR headset to run. Both reasons to need something that can stay pegged at 90fps+
My only real worry is that AMD will announce in about a month and maybe they will knock it out of the park this time. However they have also shown they are willing to premium price their products now, so I don't have any great hope of a bargain. TBH the raw performance of the card is going to be very hard to match. Its the largest generational uplift ever. The 4080 are so cut this generation that they look like they will be terrible performance deals for existing 3080 or 3090 owners. |

Out of morbid curiosity I monitored all the stores, both local and online and they all instantly sold out of the 4090s.
And guess what? Scalpers are at it again, selling on ebay for up to $4000. |

According to that announcement, "users receive a GeForce Experience in-app notification" invitation to purchase a card with a direct link. I don't use GeForce Experience, it's bloatware and unnecessary. I just install the graphics driver and that's it. Last edited by BMWGUYinCO; 10-13-2022 at 03:45 PM.. |

Nope, going to stay with 3080 ti that I traded for a 3080 I purchased at MSRP in 2020. Not to mention that bots continue to grab most stock, not dealing with that frustration.
For reference, currently running a 12900k, ddr5 5400 on 32gb, evga 3080 ti. This plays everything perfectly fine on my 1440p monitors. |

I want one but not rushing out to get it - currently have a 2070 super that's doing ok, but I would like to run ACC and VR at a higher resolution over what I have...but def going to wait for things to settle down and see what kind of #'s the 4080 puts out first

On a somewhat related note, I see that Nvidia has "unlaunched" the poorly named 4080 12 GB version...it will probably be rebranded to the 4070. Nvidia also has to reimburse AIO partners for any marketing, packaging, driver development, etc. work. Unreal...

I run the Alienware QD-OLED with a resolution of 3440x1440 (144hz HDR, 175hz non-HDR to prevent chroma subsampling) and an MSI Gaming X 4090. I previously had an EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080 (for sale if anyone wants it).
I'll say there are several games that take a 4090 to get to 144hz in HDR and maintain the framerate, and that's even without ray tracing. If you don't play demanding games or care about framerates, the 4090 isn't for you. The 4090 is about 2x the performance over the 3080 and it's obvious. Plus, I can finally play Quake 2 RTX at around 130-140fps with HDR |

And yes, I knew the raptor line was coming out when I upgraded, but I had to due to a failed system. Bad timing for that to happen....good news is, if/when I decide to upgrade, that CPU works with the Z690 platform. Guess I'll wait until it comes in stock, I won't pay scalper pricing now.... |

Just an FYI, it appears some 4090 cards are having issues with the power connector. The connectors are melting and Nvidia has requested these failed units to be sent back to them for further investigation. Right now no indication of what the failure point is other than possibly improper solder joints or the actual power pins.
