Fuel door wouldn't close all the way when leaving Laguna Seca yesterday.
Busted spring in the Ballpoint Pen mechanism. Only $19 from Amazon, but I spent $30 at the dealer because I'm a spoiled brat and I wanted it now.

I got them lightly used, but these were originally ordered via Stranoparts (strano@stranoparts.com) I think for a bit over $4k. I do street class autocross where I can't change springs from OEM, so that's why I went for this instead of some other coilover setup at that price range.

Went to the Tennessee State Veterans Home with the Nashville BMW Club. Residents were able to come out and see all the cars and some great conversation was had. I was truly honored to be there.

"Winterizing" aka putting on DWS 06plus tires. Not that I'll be driving much in the winter. Also tried my hand at swirl removal with Sonax perfect finish and Griots DA. Didn't get pix that properly show the results but stoked with the results.

Gotta say, after years of using "all season" tires on various cars, and almost always being more than a little underwhelmed by their performance, I have found the DWS 06/06+ to be astonishingly good. Have not had them on my E92 yet, but have them on 2 other cars and they are just as good as most of the mid- to high-end summer tires, both wet and dry. I drive my MINI very, very hard, and these things just grip and grip and grip. A great tire!

One last run for the summer, tonight. Topped her up with some fresh fuel, stabilizer, and one final wash tomorrow before hibernating again until Spring.

This is the first set of "plus" I've had and the first all seasons I've tried on the M so we'll see how it goes. I am told this compound is longer wearing yet more quiet. I expect good things. I've only put a couple hundred miles on them so far as I was driving my dad around while he recovered from heart surgery. I find them to be whisper quiet so far, yet they have plenty of grip in the dry. Of course my PS4S will remain my preferred summer tire. Last edited by spammysammich; 09-25-2022 at 12:45 AM.. |

Dropped the girls off at the barn for their morning of chores and riding lessons, then loaded an 80 mile backcountry drive into my new favorite app - Scenic. This turn by turn direction app is everything google maps and others are not, and I'm really looking forward to using it for road trips and weekend jaunts. Among other functions, you can choose a starting point, length of trip, road properties, and the app will generate extra twisty drives. It also allows for regional download of maps so you're not needing perfect cell coverage. Many fun days ahead…..

Yellow Calipers
Finally got around and painted the calipers. Yellow definitely pops and complements the blue color.

Met up with the local gang for coffee this morning. Thank you derbo for resetting my EDC and DCT adaptations. My EDC modes have been feeling less distinct lately and the technical wizards on here have recently uncovered more information about EDC compensation/adaptations, so I figured this was a safe try in order to buy time before they need rebuilding or replacing. And DCT adaptations because why not. Was also fun driving his car to feel the AS SSK and MCS coilovers, and the 3DM Ohlins on slcook54‘s Melbourne monster.

I had a G2 paint kit sitting for a while in black. Decided to use that to fresh them up but it didn't turn out good. I read online that paint levels itself and brush strokes will go away once paint dry. Well that didn't happen. I now need to sand them and repaint them flat black.
