many times I think, yes, I will buy an emira and then I realize I don't want a toyota engine, I also don't really think I want a 4 banger either....so, the lotus sounds good on paper but it's not quite right to get my $$
Emphasis mine.

All valid points regarding the manufacturer and reliability of British cars. But in terms of the engine, it's kind of ironic putting down the V6 (not a "4 banger") from Toyota. The base LT2 V8 in the C8 is basically a hopped up truck engine.

But, to each their own. Lotus and Corvette have always played to very different demographics.

The lotus has/will have two engine options. I am saying I don't want either of them.

I also don't want a base corvette.

Remember, my comments are made in the context of Z06 people claiming they're now considering USED exotics instead.

The C7 was imo the best-looking Corvette. The proportions were great from every angle. The C8 looks good only from very certain angles, ok from most other angles, and very bad from a select from viewpoints. If you see it cresting a hill driving towards you it looks terrible.

Most people were absolutely horrified by the C7, especially the taillights.

Most people were horrified by the M3/M4 grill, now you wait a year to get a new one and they even are still going over sticker.

Amazing how change is resisted, then accepted, then loved. Happens literally every time.

Naw, some cars never look good. The F30 front end never looked good, it still doesn't. G M3/4 front ends probably never will too. New 7 series too. I never heard that people were "horrified" by the C7. I thought they were going aggressive by styling it like a performance european coupe and it showed. A old stingray looks good. A C2 Stingray looked a lot better than what was before and after it.

It's good that BMW has enough takers with the M3/4. I think the M2 is a little too "plain" at the same time, but I'd much rather be in that. Those old 128/135s were pretty ugly too...and they never got better.

We all are entitled to our opinions and I appreciate you sharing yours. Good thing lots of different cars are made every year so everyone can drive one they like.

At the risk of perpetuating a discussion of a Lotus… in a Corvette thread… in a BMW forum…

But does the supercharged V6 Toyota mill really negate all the other positives like manual transmission, communicative hydraulic steering, mid engine architecture, and <$100k retail price? Really?

That’s because people have a thing against corvettes. Not sure why.

The emira does look Awesome but no thanks on the Toyota engine. Rather have a tree stump pulling v8 in the LT2 when I get the stingray. And my spec is almost 80k. For a mid engine v8 with a dct. Can’t beat that. The manual trans is of no interest to me.

But this is going off topic. The z06 is a car that can’t be compared because of its incredibly high stats, looks and affordable price despite it being higher than people assumed.

Well technically everything is open for comparison.

But that doesn't make it logical. Meaning can you compare a C8 corvette to an X5M?

The only thing anything can be somewhat shared in terms of similarities is that they both have V8's. THAT'S IT.

The z06 can't be compared to anything it's supposed to be with the price point it has. You try to compare and now you're entering exotic car territory that will cost double or even triple what a C8Z MSRP's for.

Again, not everyone has to like the C8Z. It doesn't even matter if people say it's slow, or ugly as shit etc.

But the proof is in the pudding. People are lined up for this car. GM has basically outsold this car already.

No other car has what it has, for the price point, period.

That's all i'm saying.

Absolutely not. The supercharged V6 in the Lotus is actually very good, has good linear power band. Sounds great too, much better exhaust note than any ugly G8x. People just hate on it because Camry.

Right. I mean there's a reason toyota went with the B58 for the MKV supra lol.

Lotus has a chance to really make a name for itself again when they go EV.

We're in agreement on that point.

Personally, I do consider vehicles from vastly different categories though. I'll compare wildly different categories of vehicles that have a similar price range; as well as compare wildly different priced vehicles within the same category. I don't think I'm unique in this regard.

Example of my note with vehicles under consideration (at least at some point recently) with my specs priced between $70k-$99k. Not crazy wild, but I bet not many would think a Cayman T, Charger Hellcat, and a Bronco Raptor are on the same person's radar.

All great great cars for that price point but i think you are on the same page as me when i said the z06 has what no other car has at that price point.

Mid engine, FPC V8, almost 700hp, DCT, exotic looks, widebody, capable of pulling insane lap times of cars double/triple it's price. Nothing on your list comes close. In fact, there is NO CAR, brand new, that has what the z06 has, for the price.

Those who are fortunate enough to be able to own multiple cars and your list makes perfect sense.

If someone just wants ONE TOY, then it'll be hard to look elsewhere besides the z06, DISREGARDING insane waiting times.

The z06, if could be had as easily as previous gen z06's, would be a one stop shop car for everyone. There is really nothing else to buy at that price point.

Ouch for all of us on the list...

Quote:
There are only two current 2023 Corvette Z06 constraints, but they’re both big ones.

Order banks have officially opened for the all-new 2023 Corvette Z06 ahead of production beginning in September, and dealer allocations were just revealed as well, meaning that we’re one step closer to seeing (and hearing) these high-revving machines on the road. However, as is the case with pretty much every new vehicle these days, a number of supply constraints will have an impact on what features customers can spec the car with, at least in the short term. Now, those 2023 Corvette Z06 constraints have been revealed via a dealer memo recently seen by Corvette Blogger.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, both the Z07 Performance Package and T0F/T0G Carbon Fiber Aero Package are among the most notable 2023 Corvette Z06 constraints, as both figure to be quite popular with customers. Regardless, it’s certainly not good news, particularly for those that have been on a dealer waiting list for the C8 Z06 for years at this point, keen to purchase the ultimate example of this track-focused machine. GM didn’t list any percentages for these constraints in its dealer memo, however, so we don’t know precisely how constrained these option packages actually are.

2023 Corvette Z06 Constraints Revealed via Dealer Document

Thankfully, those two admittedly major packages are the only constraints for the new Z06 at this time, but the Stingray continues to face a revolving door of them. This dealer memo outlines the latest of those as well, a list that includes the Z51 Performance Package, FE2/FE4 Magnetic Ride Control, 5ZZ/5ZU Carbon Flash/Body Color High Wing Spoiler, RIA/PEF floor liners, and the RCC/RCD Red and Sterling Silver Engine Covers.

2023 Corvette Z06 Constraints Revealed via Dealer Document

The 2023 Corvette Z06 – which will be slapped with a rather significant gas guzzler tax – is currently expected to enter production the week of September 19, while as we previously reported, allocations will be based on prior C8 sales, specifically pertaining the the pricier 3LT trim. This is not a new approach, though it’s notable given the fact that larger dealers that churn more high-trimmed C8s will benefit greatly from this formula.

Because they care more about being profitable then developing a bespoke engine for a sports car.

The lead for the project already said if they had developed their own engine/chassis the car would have cost north of $100k. So let the BMW do the hard work and can still maintain the profitability level they want for their shareholders.
