Are there any dyno graphs showing stage 1 w/ primary cat delete vs stage 2? I've tried searching the thread but most posts showing stage 1 vs stage 2 dynos are catted for stage 1, so the differences in hp/tq from the tune would be unknown due to the removal of the cats being a 2nd variable.

There are some tunes for which no graphs are available.

If you're running this tune with a 93 octane map and you put 91 in it, what happens? There's 93 available everywhere around me but sometimes out in the sticks only 91 is available.

Curious on this as well. In FL 93 is readily available almost anywhere but I am worried if I ever decide to go on a long cruise out in the sticks I'd only find 91. Will my car blow up?

I can not imagine it would as long as all the safety parameters remained unchanged, Alex, could you confirm?

It isn't suggested. 93 octane full throttle ignition targets are higher. You don't want the car to shoot for the sky always and have the knock detection keep pulling timing. In short, you don't want to ride the safety rail 24/7.

If you find yourself having to pump 91 on your 93 tune keep it under 6K RPM and you should be fine until you get a chance to switch over tunes or fuel. Rest your adaptions when switching maps specially octane related switches.

Instructions to buy Alpine tune?

Hi Alex@Alpine!

Need tune for my 2013 E92 M3 (after BMW dealer deleted previous AA tune when replacing DCT);
I have "AA E9X M3 Signature X Pipe & High Flow Cats"
https://store.activeautowerke.com/se...3&type=product and REMUS catback muffler; Guessing I need a Stage2 93octane (I'm in Miami);

Do I just buy it from here and wait for email with instructions? https://alpinemss.com/collections/bm...tune-2007-2013

Let me know how to to this right and, Thanks! for your help!

Successfully organized a GB w/ Alex ~2yrs ago
Suggestion:
  • 'Pre-establish' a list of confirmed/committed buyers before soliciting Alex [~15 or so]; otherwise, may not be likely attractive for a discount ultimately [his call].
Alex supported, helpful, responsive and fulfilled the GB

Considering purchasing a tune but would appreciate it if any forums members could shed some light on the Readiness status of the emissions system post-tune? I would like to understand what I am getting into with regard to my own local testing requirements. I am not having much luck finding information regarding the number and name of the Not Ready systems as a result of the tune. The information I am able to locate is fairly generic.

I am planning for test pipes only, so removal of primary cats. Secondaries will remain.

Thanks in advance.

i've learned most tuners are very touchy talking about anything related to emissions. probably for good reason. they are sold as-is

You can just flash back to stock and run the drive cycle to get the emissions tests to pass.

I wanted to go back to the stock tune for some troubleshooting and I experienced some connection issues - I kept getting an "Unable to find USB device" error in the AMS. I figured it had something to do with the drivers, so I ran the Windows with driver signature disabled - it helped and the cable was recognized by the system. I went with the ECU program as usual, and at 98% the screen went dark for 1s, it came back and AMS threw a connection error again.
Now no matter what I do I keep getting "The system was not able to collect enough information to communicate with this vehicle". The car won't start. Did I brick my ECU? How can I fix this?
