Put an order in for a set of RE71rs today. Should have them in hand end of the month or early next month. Thankfully have plenty of tires to get by until then

curious to see hear your feedback on these.. My ao52 are almost done already, so these might be an alternative for me, I'm just waiting to hear from others experiences first.

The only redeeming quality of the R888R's is the variety of sizes they come in. Otherwise, nothing good about them

I just dropped $830 on 3 sets (6) of 140tw front tires.
Should receive by end of the week.

Will I win my HPDE day? Nope!
Will I be one of the fastest in the advance group? Yep!
Will I continue to learn to be better driver? Yep!

Will I be cool driving V720 on the rear and RE050A or RE-71R in the front? Nope!

Will I have a smile on my face all day long? Yep!

:-)

I would rather spend good money on quality tires than a single dollar (and time) on a poor tire. I don't understand your thinking. It's completely illogical. I think you just like being the "crazy" guy at the track/on the forums. Wacky tire guy. 😃🤣. All in good fun 😃

Different strokes. If the guy is happy, having fun and being safe at a DE day, that's all that matters. He's not trying to race anyone w2w on mismatched discount bin tires.

Im with you.

I've spent a while trying to wrap my ahead around this and I'm at a loss. I just can't fathom purposely spending money on junk tires and then mix and match them on my car for a track day. I just don't get it, but to each their own.

I can assure you that the last thing anyone who knows me think of me as "illogical" or "wacky". If anything, I can be accused of being too logical and too risk averse.

What happens to tires and their grip levels when they sit in tire dealer warehouses for years and years and end up 'aging out'? What is the shelf life of a tire (on average)? Why are tires put on sale?

I do not spend money on junk tires.
I did try spending money on good but used tires, but there was no point in doing that once I saw that TR release brand new tires at less than used tires on eBay.

If you want to call new V720 tires on the rear "junk tires" than let's agree that we have different opinion.

If you think that the new hot potato "Force" are better than V720 on the rear, than show me the data.

If you think that 305/30/19 Corsa Async 2 60tw and V720 on the rear is junk, than I can tell you from personal experience that they are not. Regardless of what you mount on the front.

And RE-71R on the front are wonderful. EVEN at $153/tire.

Call me what you like and feel free to disagree,

Not much.
Tire rack has been releasing 2018 tires for discount that so far have been great tires.

They also released 2013 tires but I do not recommend those.

I don't know about all tire dealers, but TR is storing them in climate control warehouses.

Retailers releasing merchandise on sale for many many reasons.

Didn’t you just buy re050 for the track?

There is nothing illogical or whacky using 2018 stickers RE-71R or RE-050A tires on the front and V720, Corsa or S007 on the rear. All of which came from TR climate control warehouses. I don't recommend using eBay used tires. That is a bit whacky but has some logic to it.

I may not be as fast as cars on Slicks but I am not far behind, and I am ok with being a tad slower.

What does it have to do with slicks, and/or relative time to people at hpde with unknown skill? None of that matters, and isn’t logical to compare to. You’re adjusting so much stuff all of the time that you don’t know what you and/or the car are doing right or wrong.

How many known fast drivers have you let drive your car to benchmark?
