Exactly what I thought when driving home from Thunderhill!
(Normally switch tires at the track, but was exhausted for some reason at the end of the day. Tested positive for Covid the next morning.)

They howl like some Dick Cepek mud and snows on the highway.
Could barely hear it down the front straight at Thunderhill, but nowhere else.
Didn't notice any noise at Sears Point or Laguna Seca.

Aha..! That might mean you were driving home without your helmet on.. Haha. Perhaps your helmet was drowning out the Dick Cepek signature howl. The NT01 does have the famous Super Swamper lateral groves like Dick's..

RR's are great IMO. They are fairly quick, wear well and hold up to long sessions of hot laps. As long as you have a good alignment, rotate them and possibly flip them on the wheel, they last quite long.

295's all around are a good setup with the RR's. I ran that many times on my E92.

It certainly looks like a worthy successor to the out of production BF Goodrich g-Force R1. Its sidewall even says "R1" at the 1 o'clock position in the bottom image below.

Another tire from Japan. Zestino is well known in the drifting community. Not sure how they are for grip driving.

Word is there are only 7 SKU's to start. Probably the most common sizes in 17/18 and a 15" option would be my guess.

Yes, I've run a couple of scrub sets of the A005.

The engineer of the car that I get these off of (gt4 clubsport) says they like a little less camber. My experience with them has been slower than the Pirelli Hards, but durable. Pace wise the set I had ran about what I would do on an R7.

I have burned through too many sets to count of the A005 Yokohama slicks. Mostly soft compound but some super soft. Almost exclusively on the e46 M3 race car. They like camber on that car. -4.5 front. Out lap then first hot lap they are ready to go. In 85 degree weather they can be pushed. If they get a little hot you can back off for a lap and they are ready to go again. They have less steel in them than a Hoosier or street tire. Heat cycles? This depends on your goals. I have extra sets I plan to use on my street car. That will be fine as it is a different beast than the race car. There is plenty of rubber left after a race and or 3-5 heat cycles. If you want max speed and or setting up a race car 1-3 heat cycles are best. Otherwise I've driven them to 24 heat cycles and they were great for lapping.

What tires are you referring to that are faster? I am very fast with the NT01s and a factory suspension car. I rarely am passed. If you look at the grassroots motorsports chart posted in this thread there aren't many other options. I'm actually interested in your answer, not just being a jerk.

Everything is good. I honestly don't know what tire to recommend to you. Your priorities are different than mine. My track tire experience started 10+ years ago on the Michelin SS (4 days)I tried the old R888 for one day then went to the Grand Am GS Continental slicks (scrubs) that we could get from Turner Motorsports. BFG-R1, Hoosier R7 then a set of Hoosier A7. This was all on my e92 M3 (MCS singles, ST60, Dinan front bar. Everything else was stock). The race car always had Yokohama slick but I have one test day on Pirelli DHF slick. I will be using this tire for Trans Am races going forward.
Honestly I would like to find a 285/35/18 streetable tire for the e92 m3 grocery getter where I don't have to swap tires/wheels. I haven't found that yet.

Those were my daily drivers on a 2008 STI for a couple years. Way better than the stock tires in terms of wear and noise. I've been running conti DWS06 or 06+ more recently. Probably the perfect tire for daily driving in Seattle.

My friend and I used to get them for cheap from a Lexus tech when people took them off of their brand new IS350’s. Ran square 265’s on our manual swapped SC400’s. Man those were the days…cheap tires, cheap gas, and cheap cars 😴💭
