Vf 540 Install E90 M3 High Miles

Hello, I recently installed VF'S 540 kit on my 01/08 production E90M3 Jerez black 6mt. the car has been daily driven since being titled in 2008. I installed the kit at 140k .... sounds crazy right ? I thought the same however by reasonable mental comprise I told myself you changed the oil every 7 and what's the worst that could happen .... so installed it on my extremely pampered yet daily whooped car... guys at VF gave me a great deal in the kit and I was ready for more torque so I picked it up....I installed it with a friend of mine who is a tech for BMW and who services my high miles cars for me (all my cars). After we completed the install I went for my first SC test drive and meh.... didn't run good .... mind you this is a 08 e90 with 140k one owner miles , professional y broken in however driven hard on a daily basis .... So we took the first measure of confirmation of correct install of VF parts.... after confirming SC was installed correctly we started narrowing down our problem with code's, this pointed me in the throttle actuator direction only because I went limp mode once a while back and cleared codes and ran fine after .... replaced both actuators... no dice ... figured after some logs let's replace o2 sensor primary ... no dice ... figured maybe injectors are clogged , pulled injectors and replaced fuel pump and filter ..... no dice .... told my mechanic let's just do coils and plugs for good measure... Bingo , bad coil on an m3 with 140k .... cars runs extremely strong now original clutch ,R bearings ..... [IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

Nice! Awesome that you got it running correctly, that must've been a huge sigh of relief!

The 540/550 kit is the one I'd go with too

Good read, it was full of suspense and ended well!

Now that you've change the coil(s) looking back in time, can you recall any symptoms (subtle and easy to dismiss) that you might attribute to the bad coil? After all, you'd still be driving with a bad coil if it weren't for this enhancement.

car ran great before the install , I'm think that it didn't like the change in power and may have expedited the coil failure , symptoms with the SC installed were power loss under heavy load and higher rpms , and a rough idle . After the new coils it 100% fixed it

Odd that bad coils didn't trigger a CEL. Are you planning on getting some dyno numbers?

update, after puting 500 miles on the car since replacing coils car runs flawlessly and has been adapting nicely, I have now the ultimate sleeper m3 and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. IMO this is the perfect amount of power for daily driving both for performance as well as for reliability. I drove the m4 for a month over the summer and definitely enjoyed the power and it made my car feel slow but did not enjoy the sound and this inspired me to do what I did....so glad that I kept my car and pit this kit on because the feel of the v8 is hands down the winner in the end.

Supercharged V8 > Turbo 6

I currently own the car bought it at 170k miles and took the supercharger off at around 174k give or take, so it had the supercharger on the car for a good 30k miles, and i did not have any issues with the supercharged m3.

When i bought the car it came with a blower, i personally dont like them, so thats why i took it off, reason it took so long was mainly the time to source and install all the OEM parts on the car. I personally like the car bone stock, its a lot of fun to drive.
