How Loud Is This Going To Be?

So, I achieved my goal of getting through the year w/o any unexpected expenditures. Yea!!!

As a result I have decided to get the car gutted and have a customized cage installed by Piper Motorsports. Also going to seal off the trunk and have my 1 gallon methanol tank upgraded to the 5 gallon version. Everyone was sold out of the sunroof delete panels so the shop has fabricated a custom replacement. Took the car in last week and should have it back by end of next week or before Thanksgiving at the latest. I'm kind of shocked at the quick turnaround.

Currently waiting on pictures.

Here's my question:

With the car gutted, how loud is this thing going to be? Car will remain catless, and likely will also be upgrading to solid rear subframe mounts and replacing motor and transmission mounts (currently 75D & 95A). I say replacing because I've got vibration in reverse which seems likely to be either MM or TM related. Won't know until I take a look.

Perhaps even solid differentiate mounts - has anyone done this and regretted it? Loud is loud so louder w/solid diff mounts doesn't seem problematic to me.

Are those with gutted cars wearing earplugs of some type or is it not at all unbearable, just a decent amount louder than with sound deadening in place?

Also interested in car cover recommendations from anyone who has something they like.

SJ

You will want earplugs. Just a light cruise is likely to be above 85dba, if you still have windows. If not and you're usually windows down it's not so bad usually, what gets you is all those noises rattling around a closed space with only hard surfaces.

Thank you!

Also, while you can still hear me, I still recommend earplugs in anything with a loud exhaust and stripped interior that you're going to be spending more than a minute or two at a time in at WOT. It's just common sense but people forget that the fun noises can also hurt you/ Or just shooting earmuffs or something like that, anything that's comfortable and you can keep handy so you don't forget. Trust me I know from experience of years of not wearing plugs in club racing cars because I was an dumbass

Thank you again! Will definitely get the plugs. Any recommendations?

Yeah, second the molded plugs. If you don't want to go to an audiologist there are some decent DIY kits out there too, if you have a friend who doesn't mind sticking warm goo in your ears

get the earplugs. if not, you'll have terrible hearing damage and constant ringing in your ears and a massive headache by the end of your track days.
