steering question

I love my e92, but one small gripe is with the steering in a specific situation. When on curvy roads in the 50-80mph range, I find an unnerving sensation in the steering mid corner where it feels like at a specific point of lock the steering ratio or power steering assistance increases noticeably and makes it very difficult to make those minute adjustments to keep the car balanced as it does not feel linear.

Does anyone else encounter this same sensation? I’m actually fine with the level of power steering boost overall, and using the m-drive button makes no difference in this case. I do not notice the same thing on lower speed twisties in the say 20-50mph range either.

I’ve read thru a lot of forum posts but haven’t found an answer to this specific question. Sounds like the e9x m3s do not have a variable ratio steering system, so it seems like it’d have to be the servotronic system that is doing this.

Would the bpm sport tune correct for this specific issue? It sounds like the coding there is more about making the sport steering setting the default which makes no difference in this situation (actually feels slightly worse to me in that mode but that may be other factors as I do have edc).

I'd try pulling the plug on the servotronic solenoid on the rack and seeing if the feeling goes away. Pretty easy to get to and free. Then you can decide if you want to experiment with different programming.

Is the alignment good? Are the tires up front good? Any play noticeable by hand in the front wheels tow/camber when the tires are off the ground?
