Yes- that means they're already sold out of spots. If people cancel, they may accept registrations that were waitlisted

Come on 12/11 and make some noise in the canyon like the gods of speed intended.

Next time upgrade your brake fluid to Castrol SRF. You won't regret not having to bleed your brakes all the time, and, if you actually manage to boil it, it recovers unlike Motul.
I have found that the 08 compound gets above its working temp range pretty easily if pushing lap after lap, leading to major fade. The 11 compound works much better imo.

I'm going to be there both days, I wanted intermediate but will have to go with the faster group, my best laptimes are in the 1:48, 1:49 range without the car going on it's recent diet.

E92 M3 6SPD, RSL29, RBF660 and that's about it!

I'm on the waitlist with SpeedSF.

How far ahead do they let you know if you're in or not? I've tried reaching out too.

I need/want to shave off about a sec in braking to T2 and T8 before the end of the year

I might do HOD if SpeedSF doesn't work out.

Just did my first event at VIR with NNJR PCA and wow is that track well suited for an e9x m3. Everything on the car felt solid. Drove the car 500 miles down did 6 30 minute sessions and drove the car 500 miles back up. Next year I'll trailer it but driving it down was definitely an experience.

Only casualty from the trip was my front lip but I'll be building a 1/2" thick birch splitter in the off season to go under it to help support. Braking with the AP 9660 with ferodo ds1.11 felt great and handled the braking zones real well. The hankook RS4's held up great and still have a ton of life left. Definitely felt the benefits of the wing going up the esses. For my first time at VIR I was doing about 2:15:xx to 2:17:xx in instructed green run group. Definitely figured out some places to drop times a bit but that'll be for next year. For reference my buddy in his half stripped out e46 m3 with Bimmerworld aero/CSL intake/cams was doing about 2:07:xx with hoosiers. Overall I'll definitely be making this a yearly trip!

If he's on street tires and not pushing at 10/10ths, the 08 might work better. I agree that the 11 should be considered if you are on a slick and/or at the limit on most of your laps.

Perhaps, but just for reference:

They faded on my M3 when it was only running RS4’s, and kw clubsports were the only mod.

11’s were unavailable for the front of my stock 986 so I also did 08’s all around, and they fade even on the little 986, which has decent stock brakes and a little oe cooling.

Fair enough, just sharing some perspective since I feel like people just buy "track pads" without much consideration to what they drive, temps, where they drive, driving style, etc.

Agreed. And some people may be totally fine with 08. At that time I thought I would be, given other people’s experiences.

Have a question for you guys regarding pads since that's the topic of discussion this page.

In 2019 I put on a new set of Ferodo Dsunos to start the season, and only ran them 5 events with half the pad remaining on the fronts at the end of the season.

Took 2020 off and came back this year.

To start this year I put on another new set of Dsunos and wore the fronts completely down to the backing plate after 5 events. For event 6, I decided to put on the half worn Dsunos from 2019 to finish this year.

So here's the deal...
Like with most track pads, I typically get some squeal on the streets when used between events, and some squeal on the track occasionally but they're typically quiet.

When I swapped to these half worn two year old pads, I've had nothing but extreme squeal on the street and on the track as well. These things squealed consistently every session last event, and its to the point where I feel like something is wrong.

I took them off to inspect yesterday and they look no different than typically worn pads. They were installed correctly as well which was my first thought and why I took them out to inspect in the first place.

Is there a reason this is happening? Is this a sign that something is wrong or failure is coming?

I ask because I have one more event this year and plan to run these as I don't want to put on a new set to end the year.

Any advice?

For those of you running Vorshlag camber plates, which caster holes/setting are you using? Trying to see what is max positive caster I can get without grinding out the strut top hole.

I just can’t imagine needing any more bite than the 11. I’d rather press the pedal harder.

Oem rotors or in a bbk? If on oem rotors they might just be a bit glazed.

I’m stunned that you’ve had those issues with 08’s. I’ve run them in some hot conditions at COTA and Spring mountain. No issues with NT01s at SM. Re-11’s at COTA, so not as much torque but still…. I’ve been known to overbrake vs under brake. Castrol SRF fluid for me.

Not saying you didn’t have issues, but I’m surprised (especially on the p-car). Faster driver, new issues arise I guess.

It looks like there's a lot of threads on the PFC08s vs the PFC11s, it seems like the 08s are an enduro pad and the 11s are sprints? Also the 11s are a newer compound?

Based on the Bimmerworld descriptions, the 06s and 08s have the lowest wear rate if you're using them on the street and I'll likely street them occasionally. With that, the 11s seem like a higher performance pad?

Yea I was surprised with the Boxster too, but I guess it’s still slightly over 3k lbs with me in it. Different scenarios so who knows track to track. Should be noted that I had the oe dust shields on the M3 while running 08 compound on oe brakes. That could make a notable difference in heat buildup.

And yes, always SRF and always a nice hard…pedal…sounds like a good slogan.

Correct. 11’s somewhat recently replaced the 01 compound. And while the 08 is the endurance compound, it has to be kept in its ideal temp range or it will actually wear faster than the 11. I believe SYT_Shadow has also experienced this.

So maybe for the spring HPDE season, OEM brakes, PFC11s, and Castrol SRF might be a good plan? Also debating SS lines, but I don't want to upgrade past my driver competence level.
