DCT transmission acting weird!

A couple days ago, I took an awkward u turn in my m3 and it gave me a transmission malfunction. Fast forward to today and I was just cruising down the highway and I got the same message and the car would seemingly only go into even gears 2,4,6. I turn the car off and back on again and it's all fine, have all 7 gears and drives completely normal. Is this a software issue? Any help is appreciated!

The first thing I'd do is a transmission fluid change, along with the gasket. You may just be low on fluid.

Mine did this back last Nov. Scanned the car, ended up being a faulty mech unit. Had to do a full trans swap. Not saying this is your problem but I would at least scan for codes.

My car did this exact thing only forward gears 2, 4 and 6 very repeatedly. It only ever happened when the car was cold, and I don't mean as in the engine being cold, I mean cold outside, in the winter, below about 25 degrees.

When it used to happen I would just shut the car off, turn it back on and it went away completely until the next sub 25 degree day upon first startup.

I tried a fluid change, adjusting the adaptations in the DCT software, but nothing fixed it until I flashed the DCT with GTS tune.

Since the tune it's never once happened again.

I would try the first two things I said above, and maybe a tune or re-flash. Autocouture tried everything they knew but couldn't fix it. To this day I am not sure what the issue was but the DCT is totally fine to this day, 93K miles now.

All that said, if you are still running the stock DCT software/tune, I would flash it anyway because it is a pile of steaming crap compared to the GTS file.

I would guess this had something to do with it. Sucks but it happens

Same here. Did the new pan, mech unit and that didn't work. Had to swap out the entire transmission. Wasn't a fun experience. No issues since.
