Hello everyone
Hi, my name's Eric and I'm addicted to car modding.
Figured it was time to say hi after lurking a while. Years of driving a couple Volkswagens, learning costly lessons modifying cars, making great lifelong friends, it was time to change things up. No more front wheel drive. In August 2019, flew to Montreal and picked up a low mileage 2011 48k km e92 M3 6MT. Single hump, no edc. The journey home was a great drive through northern New York, Ontario, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Avoiding Northern Ontario's slow undivided roads. A great way to build a bond with a new car. 2700km later, some confused border guards, the thirsty car was home. Long enough to enjoy it a couple months before going to sleep for the winter. At this point, really looking forward to getting some HPDE lessons, though with the state of the world, don't know when that will happen. Couple pics after ceramic protection. Welcome to the forum!
I too am a fan of the single hump dash, it just looks and feels simpler (ok, it is simpler w/o the infotainment and nav system). There is a deep wealth of knowledge and more than a decade of experiences resting behind the search button if you need it. Personally I was looking at some info on interior bits, parts and pieces as I worked through a refresh of my '08. Again, welcome! |

The single hump does have a good style, oem navigation is never that good anyways.
It's a good point how they will age better, the nav in the GTI was really old and cumbersome. Already been spending tons of time reading. Lots of good stuff here. |

Welcome! I am not one to talk but the un-modded, pristine look is really awesome but it rarely lasts long.

Appreciate for the warm welcome all.
No plans to change the exterior much, probably just remove the chrome, changing to 19s would increase the tire options. I can't stop, haha. Maintenance plus is the goal, no neglect, with supporting mods. Going to tackle subframe bushings this spring. with no rod bearing shops anywhere near that's going to be a future DIY or a long road trip. The V8 sounds awesome, no regrets. |

Thanks. Sad the season is pretty much over.
Tried autox many many years ago, was okay. Where it was located, with that huge dip in the concrete was a bummer in a lowered car. HPDE gives the competition license, which friends and I require for the Targa Newfoundland in a couple years. Will consider autox again. More seat time is a good point. |

Welcome! Looks super clean, and I too love the AW! One of the great joys of these cars is the amount of options available on the market, both new and used, that allow you to mod the car to whatever level you want. That and the fact that BMW still makes parts decades later is also a huge plus, as many auto makers do not.
