I'm out as well. Sorry Redd!

Just ordered Slon's solution. Yes, they're considerably more expensive but figured I don't need the timing tools and can manage the install myself.

Since this will be a custom batch, we can still modify the dimensions or material (steel?).

Are we keen? If yes I will need someone Stateside to receive the washers from me and then re-ship them to the other US buyers (I will pack them). Shipping individually from Malaysia is prohibitively expensive (as I found out when I did the custom washers for the rear spherical conversion).

I will be cost transparent as I don't intend to make any money off this, just doing it for the MOQ discount and the community.

Edit - Another supplier can do Ti Gr5 for USD135 for 40pcs (10 sets of 4pcs).

Apologies in advance if this isn’t the proper way to reply to this thread, it’s been a while since I’ve used the forums (vs just using insta/Facebook)

Anyways, if someone hasn’t yet wanted to be the person who can ship these out to the rest of the interested parties here in the US, I can be that person. I’m located in San Diego, CA, and once we’ve decided who is all interested, the batch can be shipped to me then shipped out “locally” from here. Similar to quoted post, not looking to make any money, just want to help the community, so of course just cover shipping and I’d be happy to ship them anywhere within the states 👍🏽

This group buy for OD 60mm Ti washers has been CANCELLED due to the following reasons:

1. There are other options available from Carbahn, Deansbimmer and Slon Workshop

2. Looking at some of the install pictures, I realize that even a 2mm thick washer will require grinding the case for clearance. This is something I personally rather not do.

Item = Flat round washer OD 60mm x 12mm M12 x 2mm
Material = Ti Gr5
Quantity = 4 pcs per set
MOQ = 10 sets (40 pcs)
Price = Approx. USD40 shipped (Item cost =$13.50 per set. The rest is shipping)

I got a carbahn set on order.

After reading through the thread, the bolt is a one time use bolt, and as such it must be replaced.

From what I understand, the bolt is the following:

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...h/11367840998/

However, there is also a washer in the stack that isn't on the bolt in that picture. What is the part number for the washer? Or is there a separate part number that includes both the bolt and the washer?

I'm an idiot. Its item 16. Part number 11367840998 for the bolt and 11367840999 for the washer.

Just confirmed with Carbahn, the washer is NOT needed. They also said they just had a meeting are going to do these on a rush run so the lead time will be reduced since a bunch of us are wanting them.

At this point, it looks like the Deansbimmer and Slon Workshop solution are the better one over Carbahn depending on availability.
With Slon version the easiest one to install and Deansbimmer the most solid one. I would think if one is redoing the cam where they are removing the bolt already, the Deansbimmer one would be ideal choice. For the ones that don't want to mess with the timing of the cams, the Slon one would work better and would be really easy to do when doing valve cover. imho.

To clarify here- there is no need to retime the motor when installing these. You just need to install the crank and cam holders to stop the engine from going out of time before removing the bolt.

If you have the tools available, its no big deal. If you had to remove the vanos units entirely and that would be a totally different story, but that is not the case here.

It should be as simple as, lock the crank and cams into place, remove plastic cover, remove bolt, put carbahn plate on, install new bolt (without washer), remove cam and crank holders. Done.

I believe it is that simple, assuming one have the fixture, which unfortunately turned out to not be very common. Asked 10 shops around here including the "M specialists", nobody wanted to do it. While piece of cake once I only asked for valve covers off + new vanos caps.

Ordered the Slonik gear today who confirmed shipment tomorrow. This shall be interesting!

If you break loose the central bolt then you'll need to "retime" the engine. There is chain pre-load held that is lost when you crack loose that bolt. A tiny amount is all it takes to alter timing. If you've already got the tools on hand and everything locked in place, proceeding with BMW's full process for timing cams is not much more labor. I find the S65 timing process one of the easiest of all BMW chain driven engines.

Aha, this is the case even with the gear-to-gear lock (in addition to cam fixture)?

Keen pickup on that. No, if you have both cams locked and don't loosen the inlet central bolt, you could theoretically remove and reinstall the exhaust central bolt without issue. As with timing, this could only be done one bank at a time. Still, you should always check timing afterwards. If you're doing all four adjusters/covers this is a moot point in practice as timing will still be affected if the inlet adjuster bolts are cracked loose.
