I'm sure this one is a long shot.

Im looking to buy a used DCT driveshaft. Any condition is fine (within reason).

I would be shipping the used driveshaft out to Driveshaft Specialists in Texas to have it rebuilt.

I will provide a shipping label if you're out of driving distance that would have the shaft mailed directly to Texas.

This will save me from having my car out of commission since they don't have any cores at the moment.

Would also consider a CF driveshaft if anyone has one sitting around.

I'm located in Maryland.

If you break it in two pieces you can ship for cheap. I just shipped one to get balanced for 25 bucks in a 30x8x8 box. Just make sure you mark where the spline is so its balanced upon reassembly.

Well, it's had the very popular clunk noise for about 25k miles and initially it was a single metallic clunk. Now it clinks 1-3 times upon accelerating from a stop or decelerating to a stop. The car just feels sloppy to me and the clink is embarrassing as hell, especially at car meets.

For as hard as I drive the car (and the car approaching 150k) it needs to be addressed.

I considered swapping out the CSB and flex disc but for the money it makes more sense to just get a rebuilt unit which will include a new CSB and make the unit more easily serviceable in the future.

Gotcha ok. Once the DS is out the center support bearing is easy to change yourself. I just sent my stock one in and it's getting a balance and new U joint for only 200 bucks. Why not just send your stock one in?

Are you using Driveshaft Specialists of Texas as well?

Sounds similar to what they're doing for $460 with shipping included in my case. Though it does have a limited warranty I believe. Wonder if I can save some money by removing the CSB prior to shipping in that case.

I daily the car so downtime is my biggest hurdle. Haven't found a local shop that has done this specific driveshaft.

I figure I can buy a used DS now as a core then sell my original once the rebuilt piece goes in. Certainly open to a better solution though.

Oh oh. Sorry I didn't realize the downtime was the reason for this. Makes more sense now.

I'm using dependable driveshaft in Clearwater FL, but they are also just a few hour drive for me and I have a meeting near there tomorrow so just picking it up tomorrow.

Now that I am thinking of it the CSB is a little difficult to get off but I found that using a gear puller was the best way for me. It was t terrible though, took maybe 10 mins but just getting the gear puller teeth to stay put was the tricky part. Looks like the bearing is about 100 bucks itself, so your price isn't too bad with shipping and a warranty.

I've seen OEM driveshafts for for 5-700 dollars though, so at that point just look for a carbon one lol.

I decided since I wfh permanently now I no longer needed a truck.. and that decision has bitten me in the ass yet again

I'm looking to spend less than 200 on the used piece. (The core charge is usually $150.) Hoping someone who's upgraded to a CF piece has their old one sitting in their garage taking up space.

If not, I'll bite the bullet on a CF shaft. The build times are just so long.

Anyways, good luck with the rebuild! Let me know how it turns out. Very interested to hear.
