Going a different route, I ordered this directly from BMW (at dealer), retail is $254 not incl. tax & shipping, selling at a 20% discount. Part is brand new, still in the box. Extremely OEM+ mod, still illuminates like OEM, but you get a slightly shorter, and heavier knob (ZHP style) ... install is fairly intuitive.

Pickup only in SoCal for now. Willing to meet you wherever, within a 50mi radius.

The bottom plastic piece needs to be swapped out, not a direct install.
