It's available in purple and other colors are good too.
Interior and tech is same as 3/4 series. (!!!)
Has M mirrors and a power dome.
Best "new" BMW grille in a while.
Hofmeister kink is there
Has box fender flares. (!!!)
Wheels options are awesome.
Choice of blue or red brake calipers.
You can get all cerium trim blacked out.
Has the full power B58.
LSD is standard.
It's going to drive very very well.

Apparently people don't like those things and a rear end that is a little awkward in photos means it's garbage, terrible, lost the plot... blah blah derpa derpa

Thundernight looks great, nice to see Purple finally coming back into the auto industry.
Nice to see color in general. Greens, purples, etc. Someone call Mercedes and tell them they can paint cars in something besides gray, black, or white.

Don't see the point of this car when the Supra is available. At least the Supra looks really good this car just looks weird.

They shoot photos from dogs perspective. Not the angles man can see. Good point.

I'm not sure what changes happened back at HQ but man it feels like we are in the era of German designers paying homage or borrowing design elements from the eastern world and it used to be the other way around. Maybe I'm just getting older or who knows what but this new era of BMW is separating itself from its roots…imo

Kia/ Hyundai etc… all stole looks from Mercedes bmw Audi and some of them put all 3 on one car and now if someone told me this was a Kia or Hyundai trying to compete with the new supra I would believe it.

Now that is just on the exterior department. Interior looks good and I'm sure it drives well.
It's not German designers, it's just designers from all over the world that work their as you can see from this nice little bit of info.....

https://www.bmwgroup.com/en/innovation/design.html

Now if you want to blame the few at the top go right ahead as they are the ones that steer the design. .

So they remove the power dome from the M3/M4 and give it to the M240i?

Mind blowing. My M2 doesn't even have a power dome.

Also you forgot
- no bucktooth grille

they spared us!

But seriously I am interested in this car. My OG M2 proved that series motors are pretty awesome now. B58 is going to rip in this M240 considering you can even get a damn M diff. The only thing that isn't clear to me is whether the 6sp will be offered for NA market.

What is more offensive from a design standpoint...this new back end, or the front end beaver teeth on the G8X?

Yeah you are right can't really blame the designers who pitch the concept.

There is such a thing as objectively good car design.
I wish this was an example of that, it is not.
I hope Frank Stephenson articulates that as he did with the 4er.

People buying a lightweight sports car *usually* don't want a ton of weight added to the roof. Hopefully it's not even an option on the G87.

LOVE it. Gone back to the E82 angular design.
Huge improvement over the last 2er
Well done BMW!

I see your point, but why deviate from dual halos? That is a BMW trademark and needs to be preserved in my opinion.

As far as the rear goes, the tail lights don't make sense at all. All I meant was stick to a similar layout, something like the F30 vs G20 tail light design.[/QUOTE]

Get used to it. The 5er prototype that leaked a few days ago looks to have single beams and the 7er prototypes seem to be single beams too.

I'm so happy it's so ugly. Was about to cancel my '21 M2C order if this looked decent now I'll gladly take delivery in a couple weeks and enjoy great resale value.

A compact coupe weighs significantly more than an e39 m5 what a joke.

Frustrating to know that with just a couple small tweaks this design could've been special b/c it has so many things going for it. Hoping the M2's aggressiveness masks the awkward spacing and proportions of front and rear lights.

I'd be able to tell it was a BMW right away. The side profile of the new 2 is probably the most BMW looking side profile that that they make today.

I also don't get the fuss about it not having dual headlights on both sides. It's supposed to be the modern day equivalent of the 2002, which had single headlights on each side.
