This thread brought me nearly to tears. Awful.

Glad you're ok. Dang, makes me re-consider enjoying mine on routine trips into the office.

OMG. Glad you are safe. Still yesterday I was enjoying your Angel eyes retrofit and we talked through messages and I'm ready to find a time to do it. Never mind, after all things were sorted of and then find another perfect E92 M3....

Lots of e9x M3s to go around, you will find yourself in the one of your desire no problem!

Thankfully you are alive and still around to be able to search for another and enjoy it!

My first E92 got taken out in an accident. Had a sprained tailbone that's finally healed up. It helped immensely to start doing light weight training, so keep doing the exercises. It will really help with recovery.

I had a bit of a mourning period for the first car, and it still remains my ideal spec. Take your time to find the perfect replacement.

As a doctor I say this, a car can be replaced a person cannot. Thankfully you're safe. God Bless.

First, thank god you or the other drivers were not a causality of this accident.

The fire painted a vivid picture that depending on the catalyst, such as a leaked fuel or a spark, you have only a matter of minutes before things go left, and you have a raging inferno.

Thanks man, I've been pretty emotional over this whole ordeal. For one I feel like I could have died and two, I know it's just a car but it was so much more than that to me. It made me smile when I worked on it and it brought me joy every time I drove it. As my first ///M it was really something special to me.

Can't live life in fear though. Enjoy every moment you have in or out of your car to the fullest my friend. If driving it to the office makes you happy then I wouldn't think twice about doing it.

The advice about checking the for sale section was super helpful. I've been compiling similar specs from all three. Thanks for that tip.

I spent more time putting those upgraded angel eyes in the car than they got to actually be on the car! Haha, still, if you need any help with it don't hesitate to message me!

Aw, glad to hear you're doing well now. I will certainly do that. That's kind of where I'm at right now, mourning my loss. As much as I want to be back in an E92 M3 ASAP, you're right. I will take my time finding my next one to make sure I get what I want.

Thank God for real. It could have been so much worse. If I was incapacitated from the hit I might not be here with how fast the car went up in flames.

Me too Bake. If I didn't make it out alive, my wife would have killed me.
Here's to hoping for both of those. Thanks bud.

This community is so nice. You all really are the best. This community is just another reason why I love the E9X M3. Thanks again to everyone for the well wishes, kind words, and advice. Love you all.

Thanks man!

On the topic of insurance, I'm not sure what I should expect/accept as an offer.

My car (2012 E92) had:
- 105,000KM (65,000 miles)
- Alpine white
- Fox red extended interior
- DCT
- carbon roof
- ZCP competition package
- premium package & convenience package (had every option possible from the factory)
- Shadowline window trim
- black ZCP wheels

Mods:
- upgraded round LED angel eyes
- gloss black M3 badge
- POM performance carbon fiber trunk spoiler
- POM performance carbon fiber GTS front lip
- F8X style gloss black grill
- carbon fiber paddle shifters
- red start stop button
- red M button
- retrofitted rearview camera
- Mporium aluminum undertray
- K&N engine air filter
- Solid subframe bushings
- upgraded diff bushings

Any idea what this would have been worth? I saw someone on the for sale section sell a similar, but manual, m3. He was asking 38,000 USD and sold it, not sure for what price though.

Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to get low balled ):

I would say if you were to sell that car you would get around $30-34k with that color combo and 65k miles, maybe more with good maintenance records and RB/TA's being done. No idea how the market is in Canada but here you get a minor knock for the DCT but the rest is all plus signs. Hope they do right by you, but don't take shit from the insurance company. They will try and low-ball you every time. Look at what things are selling for in your area and be firm with them until they match it.

Holy hell! What a nightmare. I can't imagine if I had my 6 month old in the back seat and we either were pinned inside or knocked unconscious and unable to get out before the fire.

Glad you made it out alive.

Thanks guys.

I'm currently looking at a Le Man's Blue 2013 E92 ZCP, DCT, Carbon roof, pretty much loaded but no PDC, rear sunshade, or power mirrors. Not big things really. Black novillo interior, not extended.

It has 115,000km (72,000 miles) and is listed for 41,000 CAD (33K USD).

Thoughts on if this is a fair price with how the market is and the spec?

Would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

I know that it has full service records, just not sure what that entails at this point. Will have to find out when I go to see it.

There are definitely better deals out there. But those with maintenance history and clearly well taken care of examples I would pay for.

Thought that I would give an update for anyone curious. This might also possibly help someone else who finds themselves in the same situation.

My insurance company ended up giving me a fairly low first offer of $37K CAD (including tax). I requested the appraisal report and saw that they only used 2 cars to come to a value. One of the two cars was not even similar in specs; had no competition package, no pdc, no edc, and way more KMS. This offer was also including about $1500 for mods and my recently completed rod bearing service — about 25% of what I paid, but better than nothing.

Their first offer was assuming that my car had way more kilometers than the 105,000KM that my car actually had. So I sent them the rod bearing service receipt which states my kilometers and also sent them the Kelly Blue book value of $38K CAD, as well as 8 other E92 M3's from Autotrader that were selling for much more.

I made it known that if they didn't revise the report I would not be accepting the offer and would be proceeding with all of the next steps available to me.

They got back to me this morning and the offer went from 37K CAD to 51K CAD. It took me a few hours to put together the comparable listings but it was obviously worth the time. The fact that the market has gone up since I bought the car in September of 2020 also benefitted me here.

This new offer covers what I paid for the car as well as all of the mods. It sucks that it's gone but I will be getting into a new one very soon; currently checking out a Frozen Silver edition E92 M3 with about 85,000KM.

Moral of the story, do your homework and don't accept the first offer that the insurance company gives you. I thought I was going to be severely out of pocket with this accident but a little bit of research and politely standing my ground got me square.
