G42 will no doubt be such a massive upgrade. F22 was excellent but had its warts and is wrinkly and dated now. If they can replicate the M340i in a shorter wheelbase coupe… home run.

Here's hoping that "extrovert design" doesn't = "hit with the same ugly stick that the 4 series / i4 / iX got whacked with".
At least it appears to not have the fugly comical grill - but there are plenty of other design elements they have been messing up as of late. The heartbreaking thing about the newest M3/4 is that by all accounts the handling / engine is top form, but I could never see myself ever getting over that front end. I think a lot of us are holding out hope that the current design team hasn't messed up the 2er. And no word on manual for the M240i. So I'm not holding my breath. Holding out hope that it's not another design train wreck, but ready to hold on to my 2018 M240i for a while if I have to! |

The hood looks a bit long for the 2 series (and 1 series before it) proportions and sad to see the kink in the rear window missing. But I am sure BMW will do a great job on this one.

Looks like it's disguised in the pic at the top of this post, weird but good!

That's part of the reason I'm looking forward to this reveal, although the F82 is great in its own way I still like my previous F22 and think it's a classic BMW design up there with the E46.
So assuming they don't shoot themselves in the foot on the G42 design, it will definitely be up for consideration when it comes time to replace my F82 next year. |

I think this is the best render so far based on the latest low-ish camo pics
Let's see in 8 days |

I'm really curious to see how it'll look in real life, as lately it seems most BMW look better when you see them in person.
I am a bit worried about those headlights though. I think it's a shame they did away with the dual angel eye look. |

In the F series there was a definite step up in interior quality in the 4 compared to the 2 which helped in the price delta. |

Glad I'm not the only one seeing the massive front overhang.

The G42 may in all likelihood have a longer hood and overhang, but the perspective of the camera shot likely has something to do with it.

I am more interested in the trunk line. It looks raised and more like the 1 series did and less like the flat version on the F87.
