X pipe with HFC rob power over test pipe w/ stock secondary cats?

Hey all - I'm running Turner Test Pipes with a Corsa muffler. Also have the Evolve tune.

I was considering swapping out my stock X pipe and picking one of these newer X pipe designs with the crossover section setup closer to the headers. Seems to sound a bit better and possibly makes more power? I wasn't able to find much on the newer design making more power, just some forum members commenting on that.

Anyway - I'm not interested in running catless as I don't want the smell. Right now the stock secondary cats do a great job at killing the smell and I actually passed a drive-by sniff test believe it or not...

The ESS X pipe has an option for HFC but they appear to be roughly in the position where the primary cats would be (I'm assuming this is so the secondary O2 sensors can be placed behind the HFC). I'm not worried about popping the Emissions light, I just don't want the smell.

My concern is that the HFCs being placed where the primaries would normally be will result in additional power loss over what I have now with my test pipe, stock X pipe, and stock secondaries...

Appreciate any thoughts on this. I'm hoping to actually pick up a bit of power, not lose it.
