I am amazed to hear so many people bash VAC generally. When I lived in Philly they worked on my car numerous times and never had an issue. That being said I saw the history of their bearings but I also note that Tuning Dynamics here in Tampa swears by them.

Malek at MRF has done hundreds of S65 rod bearing changes with VAC bearings and no issues.

Some of us have good reason to avoid Vac. But I trust Malek with my car never the less.

I'm not taking about bearings. But when you order a several thousand dollar baffled oil pan from them (of which they provided the donor pan, their own baffle and did all the welding) only to have the welds resemble Swiss cheese and have a massive crack in it you would expect them to remedy the situation in some way considering they are 100 percent at fault for poor work. Not have them tell you it's a huge bummer and then go dark.

Maybe Vac treats shops that have a high order volume better but I have yet to have a good experience from them. I hope I'm the outlier for everyone else's sake. If others are having good results then I hope that trend continues because I don't want anyone to fail, Vac included. I just don't understand how/why customer service and backing your products/brand is becoming so rare these days.

The issue is when VAC sends people bearings that are not what they are sold.
Hey did you order Clevite custom spec bearings and we sent you OEM coated bearings instead? Ooops my bad! Hey did we mix up the bearings and send you uppers and lowers flipped on the OEM bearings we sold as Clevite customs? Hey did we sell you some bearings that were coated over so we have no idea what we sold you? Ooops...

Sorry man... I'll hate until the service to the end user improves. Yep, maybe that's just me hating.

I have had about 10 transactions with VAC over the past 15 years, and never had an issue. Have not bought their S65 bearings.

I have never had a good experience with VAC in all my years of BMW ownership.

There is a reason while many avoid them no matter how good their parts "might" be. As long as there is an alternative, I'm going there first.
