I'm still on wheel bolts since I'm slow, but those are always loosened with a 4-way lug wrench and hand threaded. I also jack up the car slightly to take some load off the bottom bolt when breaking it loose.
Too much risk damaging something with power tools when it can be done easily by hand. |

With you 100%. There is nothing wrong with wheel bolts, they are just a little less convenient. People in the paddock always give me shit for using a manual breaker bar and threading things by hand. It only takes a few extra minutes to swap wheels in this fashion and I feel much safer.

10.5 works too Editing to add: It's easier with stock seats. With my current OMP seats its a tight squeeze and I've scratched up the back of the seats a little, if I had put PPF or something it would have been fine.

maybe a little bit, but the amount of dirt around it makes it difficult to determine how old it is. clean the whole area and see if more comes out.

Seems like it. BTW used the bimmerworld resi for the first time at the track and the fluid stayed in the resi! Imagine that.

Have we discussed scariest weather encountered on the way to or from a
track day? I had this in August last year. I drove into the very red part of the radar when it was just south west of Brainerd. The storm line followed the road from Brainerd to St. Cloud, but I would avoid more of it by going east to the MSP metro. It got very intense just south of Brainerd quickly and only provided a small 2 minute break somewhere on the middle. The lighting was frequent and close, so also very bright and loud. Shortly after the small break, I drove into the darkest, windiest, downpour I’ve ever experienced. At that point feeling pretty sure I was going to be blown away by a tornado at any second. There was no good place to stop. Visibility was only a few feet but pulling over on the shoulder wasn’t an option since there were cars driving on the shoulder on both sides. I didn’t want to be struck by a semi or something else so I kept going. Just when getting into St. Cloud, I got out of the storm and a remembered it was still daytime. Most people were leaving by 3 PM which was odd. There was another car on track with me but around 4, they closed the track early and told us to go home. Event was scheduled to go until 5 PM so I assumed the corner workers didn’t feel like staying out there for just two cars. Looking back at it, now I’m assuming I missed an announcement while I was on track that a pretty bad storm was coming. According to https://www.weather.gov/mpx/August_1..._Weather_Event - I drove by at least two tornadoes. If I left half an hour earlier, I would have missed the worst of it and got to enjoy the lighting show from a distance. It started out as a rainy day but improved. I knew it was going to rain later on the evening, but didn’t bother to check the weather further away for anything but the rain forecast. Now I know better. |

Been working on a front splitter (and added the dive planes)
I am almost done, need to double check everything and pull the protective film off still. Back of the splitter is mounted into my ECS aluminum skid plate (which is mounted direct to the chassis) using some M8 rivnuts and the front has four splitter rods mounted into the bumper beam. The splitter is made from black alumalite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Also finally got around to installing my bimmerworld sunroof delete ![]() ![]()

Haha damn. I'll post a photo or video later of my first time ever driving to COTA when a hail storm hit on the way and several highway viaducts started flooding from the insane rain. Fortunately I flipped on the dashcam. Nothing like driving through a foot of standing water in a super low car...

That was ugly - thousands of people caught out in it when it hit. Most of them were a long ways from their cars too. Thankfully the hail didn't get big there or it could have been really, really bad.

it looks like your power steering reservoir cap was already tapped for that little overflow reservoir that everybody does... if its just open like that, its definitely spurting on your bay a little.

For me, going to southern California tracks means going and up and down Grapevine and into Tejon pass. Most of the time there are no issues but woe if you get caught when it snows. Since we track all year around this is a huge concern. I got caught in freezing rain once on the way back and I have to say I'm glad I had street wheels on.
